Very nice, looks just like original. How is the bubble jumping anyway? I remember that it was a real pain on the NES.

Perhaps you could extend to 2 player later on xtom ... i'll see about winging my netcode into your mailbox

but ya certainly hope to see a sweet single player experience (^_^)
the characters look a little weird facet shaded, but you're games have always been more about gameplay which is think is cool

i think a more Mario-esque camera would be cool - been playing on the N64 alot recently, have Mario, Zelda, Bomberman64 etc... on the brain
It's pretty cool my Bro bought the thing like a few weeks ago and he already owns more games than i ever did - like 30 in the past 2 weeks

I have mario64, I might dig out my N64 and give it a go at some stage, it would be a good referance for 3D movement and the camera. Although I really need to push on and get more levels and baddies done or I'll end up submiting a one level game.

All this arguing about downloading emulators being wrong - /sigh.

Buying a second hand copy of the game does nothing for the author, I guarantee you the author did not get a penny beyond 6 months of the games release. 20 Years on, nobody cares*

*There are a few exceptions to this, some companies have gone on the record and said 'NO', however some have actually released their old games onto the emulator scene!

Interestingly Amstrad officially approved the Spectrum emulator and authorised the release of the ROMS. I gather that Amiga are going to do or have done the same thing now with the old OCS/ECS and AGA Amigas.

The emulated software I run is stuff i've written or purchased (Amiga emulator) or is legal (Spectrum emulator) however, I totally back anyone who wants to emulate an old platform. The authors will get nothing if you buy the game from ebay.

Yet I am a person who actually registers shareware, so go figure.

Yeah thats kinda why i don't care what people do with Roms and Emulators - and its only Nintendo who are really oppossed to it...

i mean on the position of the GB/GBA/GameCube you can understand - but they're also all flippant about the older consoles that they no longer make any money on.

as far as i'm conserned as soon as no one is profiting from the software, who cares if people ripp it off - because the only people you're ripping off at that point are the second hand users who want to get rid of them.

The Amiga has has legal emulators since '95 - however it is illegal to copy software, because the emulators give your system the ability to use the data which can already be read on any OS after '98

i mean theres no point in getting bent outta shape about it cause no one is making any money from it now.
however pirating Max or something, then you can see why i'd have a problem with that

well as long as that single level isn't like a small box world tom

Wow, nice =) Brings back memories of the old C64 days =) It wont have the same feeling but it looks good.

The main character is very high poly and you don't have any smoothing on the objects.

Looking forward to give it a try =)

How do I go about smoothing the objects? Is there a way of doing it without increasing the poly count?

You must do that in your 3D program. In Lightwave you open up the settings for each surface and click on a checkbox to turn it on for each surface. With smoothing the dino will even look beter with fewer polys then without smoothing. She smoothing works to fade the color of the polygone instead of using one flat color for each polygone.

I just loaded my directx model into DB classic and it looked really smooth but in DBPro it's not as smooth. Check out the shot below. Might be an object command or setting I need to use.

Nope, if your object is smooth from start then DBP makes it smooth. However DBC may make it smooth though it's not. How does the model look in your modeler?

I think there is more wrong than the eyes but it will have to do. I'm going to have to get more baddies modeled tonight and then push on with the levels. Haven't got time for polish yet.

I kinda cheated a bit there. Instead of him actually opening his mouth to shoot bubbles I just have the head animated in a way that looks like he is. It tilts back when you shoot, and because you never see his mouth when shooting it looks convincing.

great models! And the enemy looks cute! this bubble bobble game reminds me of Kirby's Dreamland most enemies (maybe all) are cute! Can you jump yet?

Wow been awhile from this post, how's it coming Atom? I was playing the original NES version a while ago, and I was wondering how you're gonna do some of the power ups? Like the lightning bubble for instance, that would seam to be difficult to do in 3D.

kfoong, yep, you can jump. That was one of the first things I did, but I'm always fine tuning the controls as I test.

Arrow, I don't know how I would go about the lightning bubble or the water slide. They were two cool powerups but I don't they would work well in 3D.

I've got 8 levels done now but I still need to create textures for them. If I can get 20 levels ready in time I'll be happy.

Bubble Bobble wasn't a one hit wonder on the NES, there was a bubble bobble 2 with much better graphics - and basically the same gameplay. I'll upload some screen shots If I can find some. Plus obviously there was New Zealand Story, Rainbow Islands, Puzzle Bobble 1-4 and BustaMove 1-4

I'm still really looking forward to trying this in 3d, any news on a demo?
