Lukas W,

I could say that your HUD is good or bad, but only in ignorance. Let me know what type of game you are making, and what its "feel" should be.

What would you think when you see ammo? Its go to be an action game of some sorts like a shooter.

Anyways I'm guessing thats just a layout of the hud not the actual thing so yeah I'd say it would be pretty good.

actually, this is what the hud looks like - in game
i can defenitley say that 2d art is NOT my speciality.

the game is a Horror FPS, im rewriting my old 'Zombie Hunter' game.
from DBC to DBPro. with a few improvements on the engine. like adding Newton and dx9 shaders

Lukas W,

You have stated what I needed to know, partially. What all needs to be included in the HUD? Just what is shown, or more?

Honsetly Nanobrain use commonsense.

Anyways well then if 2D aint your cup of tea Lukas just make the hud very minimal in style and try to aim for like a half-life 2 esque feel for the huds.

@Anime: Why isnt Nanobrain using common sense? Perhaps he thought that Lukas just hadnt finished the HUD, but provided an example of how his work looks in the game.

In any case, i dont see any problem with him asking if there should be additional options, perhaps a menu button, macro keys? Who knows.

ill try and see what i can do. only my trial of photoshop CS is soon running out of days, and my photoshop elements wont start i guess ihave to go back to pain shop pro...hehe..

the game is horror, shooter.
what is on the screen will be
health> a health bar, text (or number) indicating the health in numerical form.
Ammo> Current ammo in clip, Total clips.
Stats> (to the very right) how many kills, how long time has passed since game started.
bottom> holds information about what weapon is selected. weapon name, weapon logo perhaps, weapon number, total ammo.

ill draw a sketch of my current thoughts.. hold on

edit,
ok i had to hurry, because i need to go to bed
but this is what it may look like if i can do this.
i was thinking maybe sort of metal themed.

Lukas W,

Here is a thumbnail of the HUD I created for you. This is not the file I will give you. If you like it, I need to know how you wish to recieve it. Do you need each piece as a seperate image, equalling three images total(recommended). Or, do you wish for it in all to be in one high quality .bmp image? Note that the image below is a 50% compressed .jpg, therefore it is of lower quality and the words are not as crisp as should be.

wow, oh my god that is so perfect thanks a million! oh, and thats 50% less quality that is so awesome. i could never do anything as detailed as that. but i did found a nice tutorial on how to make wood textures. i learned alot from that one

i would like to have them in 3 separate images if that is allright.
because the player can switch resolution from 320x240 up to 1280x1024.
so if needed i can resize them when i get them

you could send them to my email, or you can post it here. its up to you thanks again

Search the net for GIMP or GIMP 2 its a good software image editor free too also supports plugins for photoshop adobe ect! its great IMO and the fact its free is great too.

Aw, and I opened the thread thinking I could actually help someone.

Anyway, good luck with the game.
