while trying to learn bump mapping I'm getting some strange loss of texture (appears white in image)....

anybody know how to work around this...

I suspect it has something to do with global lighting and camera angle....

any help or positive suggestions would be mucho

Try texturing it manually with Texture Object.
There was a previous thread with this problem, and that fixed it.

Set Object Culling [yourObject], 1

You may also need to create the Bumpmap as Grey Scale and more importantly Invert it.

Raven, how would turning culling on fix the problem? Bump Mapping has nothing to do with if it's culled, and by the looks of it, it's a completely closed object, so culling will make no difference except for performance.

I tried to bump map the main character and wow that was a waste of time....

If I ever do figure this stuff out I will be sure to post the solutions here
