Ad87am,

Is this your first model to ever create, or just your first in 3D Studio Max 7? However, it is really good.

No this is my 1st Moddel I have ever Created. I have only recently got 3D studio Max 7, it still isnt great, have to do some work on the cockpit, I used to do Graphic Design back in the days when I went to school, but I used a really simple program, cant remember wots it called, but I sort of had an idea how to moddel already. This is my 1st proper detailed moddel (well its not that detail) and all i got to do now is make a few ajustments and texture it!

Ah so it is the first model you aren't ashamed to show :p jk jk
Its a nice model but as you said the lighting is terrible. Also I may be wrong but I believe that the p-38's guns are inset on the wings, not on the front. Also for more detailed models you would probably want to extrude the wings from the fuselage(sp?) to make it look more like the wings are sticking through the plane.

Those are just small things tho it looks very good.

Explain to me why some people pay money for 3d software? Its not 3d till its been blended. wwww.blender3d.org

Lol hmm... first model hey ummm.. lol nah its really good actually. you might want to try not putting a light in it makes it alot easier. I use 3ds max 7 also its really easier and you have used most of the features well, by the way how many polies is it?

Good work,

I used a picture to help with the moddeling. It consists of of the wing, (which is 1) the rudder, the stabilizer, 2 sponson's, 2 Spinners, 3 Propellers attached to each spinner, and the Gondola (cockpit). I am going to texture it tonight and fix a few problems, Also in the P38 has the guns on the front, not the wings, look it up in google or something, oh yeh and i forgot to do the fuel tanks under the propeller!

how many???

You could get away with 60 tris in the handle area and about 30-40 or so on each barrel theres no way you need 4308 polys

Mind if I show you an example quickly?

I see you used a bitmap for a guide, i had no image, altho it would make my life alot more easier. I dont really understand all this stuff about polys and triangls, I know that the more ther are, there may be some lagg in games.

If he wasnt making it for a game poly count would be really relevant but, I guess hes right try to conserve so you can learn low poly skills early.

Good luck

Its not just for low polygon skills but if your making anything weather it be for film, games or images if your making something with unessecery polygons that don't really add to the detail or the overall look then why are they there? 4308 polygons even for a gun thats not going to be used in a game is pretty steep thats even over the amount I use to block out a polygon model of a car
