Hello. Question from a noob- what format do sounds/music have to be in when you stick them into your game?

Thanks.

Why do today what you could have someone else do?

There are several freeware audio editing programs used for audio conversion. Just remember that mp3 is a compressed format and not as good as wav files. Also remember that wav files can become VERY large if CD quality or better is important to your game.

Awave and Audacity are two such programs. Go to www.google.com and type in the keywords: freeware audio editing

That will get you to all kinds of free audio related programs and stuff.

Hope this helps.

MP3 is a copyright format - you will need a license if you ever want to sell a game tht contains MP3 - there are other formats you can use.

You can use LAME Mp3 codec, which is free for everyone to use and distribute, royalty-free. You can also use OGM and many others, but uncompressed WAV is just... you know, REALLY BIG!
