First thing to check: Use the IP address instead of the domain name. So replace files.fpscreator.com with 72.36.165.86 and try again.

Still not working? Ensure your firewall allows FTP programs to run. FTP will open a connection on Port 21, but it will then negotiate another port between itself and the server, which could be pretty much anything (typically above 500). This means you need decent firewall software that can allow application layer connections, not port specific ones. Windows Firewall works fine for this, as does Zone Alarm, etc. Ensure your FTP client is allowed access through your firewall. Changing the port number to anything other than 21 will always fail btw.

Neither of those? Are you behind a Proxy Server? If so you'll have to configure your FTP software accordingly - and it varies totally between each proxy, so go read the manual I'm afraid.

I noticed in the email that you attempted to link users to the FTP by providing the URL. The error with this link is that it attempts to connect to http://files.fpscreator.com instead of ftp://files.fpscreator.com fixing that in batch emails would help out a few guys trying to download it.

I don't link to the site like that at all in the email, it's just plain text. Your email client translated it for you into a hyper-link, hence the problem. There's nothing I can do to stop that.

Here's the screen shot. There is html formatting in the email.

This shows what I was mentioning.

I understood what you meant. If you view the source (actual text) of the email (not the HTML rendered version) you'll see that the domain files.fpscreator.com is *not* a hyper-link at all.

Your email client has turned it into one for you.

There is nothing I can do to stop this, it's a 100% client side problem.

If there were too many users already on, it would say "Too many users" If it said something else it may be specific to that user account. Email me privately the username + password you're trying to use (don't post it here!)

I pre-ordered FPSC a couple of days ago and I received an email this morning that mentions downloading from the FTP site. However, my email has %USERNAME%, %PASSWORD%, and %SERIAL%, instead of any usable values. Did I receive the email in error?

Hi everyone.
I ordered the full version of FPS Creator on the 9th of this month. I have "Never" received a confirmation e-mail. I contacted Support and after several day's I had a reply. The reply was this " FPS Creator will be released on Sept. 22nd". HUH!?
I was asking about a confirmation e-mail. NOT the release date. Oh well. Now it's September 22nd and I STILL don't have a confirmation e-mail. Let alone a download link.
I don't like this. A person cant help but feel, that their business just doesn't matter all that much when there is poor customer service communication.
I'm not trying to be rude. However, I believe at this point I have a legitimate complaint that simply deserves a descent remedy.

Thank You.

This seems to a commom theme here. I also preordered V1 through an EA upgrade on Sep 10 and was told that an email would be sent to me soon for the download. Now its the 22 and still no email. It said they are sending out 250 a day first come first served. I guess there must be a lot of people ahead of me or im just going insane. Muaaahhh!!

For users who say they have not recieved their user name & password to download FPS it would be better if you contacted customer support directly by email rather that posting in the forum.
You are unlikely to get a reply via the forum but are certain to get one via the email address you used to purchase FPS.
By using the email address you ordered FPS with you will be helping to combat fraud...Its a serious offence to attempt to steal goods & forums are often used to make bogus claims.

Okay this is starting to p. me off.
Especially since I am hearing all of you guys are having the same problem(s).

I ordered it yesterday. Almost as soon as it said:
- The Full Retail Version is out -- Order today -

Now its been 24 hours and I still haven't received an email with the download link, username or password.

And I made a direct money transfer so there is no credit card or anything like that, that needs to be cleared first.

And whats even worse - its been 20 hours and still no reply on any of my emails. This is REALLY bad and has to be fixed. You cannot sell a product with this kind of slow support.

If my webbusiness dont answer customers within 12 hours of them having send an email to us. Most of them begind to be impatient and rightfully so.

When am I going to get my download email or even an answer from you guys?

"Kind regards"
Michael Due.

I think 12 hours is a tad optimistic for expecting a reply.
Most software sites respond within 48hrs of an order & that seems reasonable to me...Whilst it can be annoying it is a necessity to prevent fraud (fraud kills software).
When I ordered the EA version i did it on a friday evening....I did not get a reply till monday morning & like you michael i was well miffed!....However come monday morning my key had arrived & i was no longer miffed....take it from me...once you get your software all the anger will instantly vanish & become a distant memory.

Yay I got the email ^^

Can't wait til its done downloading, so I can get started.

I have 2 weeks to make the best possible game with a 10 page report and then it will be handed in to my Game making teacher

It's gonna be fun to see what I can create in 2 weeks and how he (my teacher) is gonna rate it ^^
