Why does the process of creating lightmaps take so long ?
Ive used several engines before but i cant remember it was
the same as in fpsc..! isnt there an easier way to create lightmaps
for the levels ?

Depends on how many lights, how complex the level and what level of quality you have selected. Think of lightmapping as raytracing - both take a long time for quality results.

Lightmapping is fast to me, but when the "[240] building Portals"
comes it takes three times the time of FULL LIGHTMAPPING!

WHY??

I started the "build game exe" at 13pm today....now its almost 19pm and for over 5 hours now fpsc stuck at "creating lightmaps". I just wonder if i should wait or cancel this operation.
i think 512 mb ram should be enough !!!!!

yeah...thats the ticket !
