Hello everyone, have downloaded the demo and think it's great but there is one thing that's really beginning to annoy me with it. Is it possible to redefine the keys as pressing <Enter> to open doors is really annoying, and isn't really the standard thing.

The majority of FPS games have 'F' or 'E' as the Use key, is it possible to redefine the keys..?

Cheers

Yes you can, all the game controls can be changed. But it would mean you would have to edit the image that says 'Press Enter To Use'.

Cheers, much appreciated. Will look into it when I buy it in a couple of weeks.

Have been made redundant at work, last day on Friday so will have a bit of time on my hands. I'm working (or was working after Friday!) for Eidos as a QA Technician (aka Games Tester) so if anyone wants me to test their game after the weekend then please feel free to give me a shout.

Am looking to get into games design and am going to use FPS Creator to submit examples of game ideas to accompany design docs that I create.

Have attatched a standard design doc to this post in case anyone wants to do the same sort of thing.

You can also have doors that open automatically - depends on the AI that the door uses!

So I'm assuming that the keys used are listed in an .ini file with the graphics settings? Have seen a post about the graphics settings on here somewhere and it said something about us having to write a program to change the .ini file.

Does that mean that the game player has to restart the game for the graphics settings/key assignments to take place..?

And how do we run the program to change these settings from FPSC..?

*Pauses for a second as more questions spring to mind*

And is it possible for a game designer to have a menu pop up to do these things after the user presses a certain key?

I'm also looking at a mini-game idea that will need to pop up in a seperate window but am unsure if this is possible.

All of the key controls and graphics options are in the build game window. Thats where you can change many aspects of the game there.
I am unsure of your last 2 questions though.

Be aware though that changes to the keyboard settings in the game build dialogue box may in some instances not show up in test run in editor but will work in the final game if you run it.

Just in case you go to test run in editor and think your new key choices are not working.....
