£4.95
it claims to be better than 3ds max or at least easier.
i contacted the guy selling it and he said its good ( course he would) but ive been having problems finding an easy to use moddeling software that does animation.

true, but i want somthing easy to use, i dont expect rip roaring results coz thats all up to the amount of time i put into the work but at the mo i seem to be spending more time just trying to get to grips with the basics of a 3d moddeler.even simple things so im just trying different stuff.
music,game ideas and coding are all getting quite easy as i used to record music through the pc and can do effects and themes easily enough, the coding side is coming along at a nice pace but the 3d modelling just seems to go into a dead end, just when i think im getting somewhere it all goes pear shaped so i need an easy moddeler/animator.

you could always try milkshape, which costs 20$ gets updated regularly, has nice forums etc etc, its ideal for modelling,uv(to an extent), animating and getting the models into darkbasic/pro with ease, milkshape has been used by many people on these forums including myself, and has been proven to be a usefull tool for dbp game creation, so i would advise you to buy this rather than get some proram no ones heard of..

Hi There Thicko,

Just so you know... if you look closely at the top of one of the pics that are on the ebay listing for that 3D Creator you will see that you have paid for a copy of Blender... This is actually free if you go to their website..
Sorry but this guy is flogging free software to un-knowing punters..
one of his other products is open office ... also free to dowmload...

Smile it could be worse....I smiled...it got worse!

you cant expect to learn a 3D modeller in 20 minutes, use tutorials, try and at the end you can learn any 3D modeller.

Im trying to get my hang with C4D atm, wich is hard as well but after a few hours of practice i at least understand 20% of the commands

hi there
as i said in my other posts on this thread, i just cant get to grips with them, trust me when i say ive spent more than 20 mins at them, the 20 mins remark was about milkshape.
i got cartshop and was blown away by the sheer ease of use and was hoping for a 3d moddelor and animator the same way, which i think is milkshape.
i used realsoft 3d for a while and that was quite good but it doesnt export how i want and i couldnt find a plug in exporter so i looked elswhere, a freind who is a designer for a big company gave me 3ds max as hed bought a newer version but i couldnt get to grips with it and my freind didnt have time to show me.
i dont expect my models and anims to be brill as its only a hobby but i want to create and animate things for a game im working on which i dont expect to be brilliant but just for the fact i could say i did it all myself.
im self employed married with a kid and also dont have much time to concentrate for weeks on a moddeling program.
i got a free copy of c4d with a mag but ive never tried it properly, it was when i was using realsoft 3d so i didnt need another one.

you should considering you got it , maybe if you love it that much you'll end up getting the lastest version, which I've tried the demo of C4D R 9.5, and well it's really fast, even the rendering, and cool, just as a showcase, here is what I've managed to achieve, and I got it in april,

Am if you're curious in what else I've managed to get out of this lil free package, look at my other 3d threads, I found it pretty easy to learn, if you get stuck, ask me by email or something plus keep an eye out on me forum, I am still making tutorials for it

if it'll help, with Cinema 4D, the way I learnt was to start off with the poly modelling tool, which is pretty easy to use, its like dot to dot in 3D, and makes faces, thats how sephiroth was done, and just keep practicing with the tool to increase detail each time, use referance images, and 'hype nurbs' which super smooths it, if you want me to run through the methods above, just ask me

Just as well I already got it open

I find the best way to work is with 4 views, so well, first things first,

How to make 4 views:

on your view port, theres a menu bar, click on 'view' then 'all views' (shortcut key F5)
like so;

the views are, where the words are., are where the views are

1.Perspective 2. Top
3.Side 4. Front

I usually work with a referance image, go to the 'front' view port and select 'Edit' -> 'configure' and at the bottom are the image options, you may have to change the proportions in the menu for it to scale right.

Now to get used to the tools.

Firstly, the polygon tool,

'Objects'=> 'Polygon object'
then (for editing the object)
'Tools'=>'Points'

hold 'ctrl' and click to make dots, this is where the dot to dot idea comes in, to join the dots, press 'b' the join them together, but you can only make squares and traingles, traingles are like drawing straight lines to each other, pretty simple, the squares, you draw the paralell lines.

you can extend this to draw more like so...

plus if you click on the dots (when in move mode, which can be selected in the tools menu, as well as scale and rotate, camera, object edit, look at this menu, it might prove useful) you can select them and move them, so I'll show you simple thing you can do,

not much, but stupid things can help you get the hang of tools, once you've got the hang of it, extend to bigger models, and later start on character modelling, or other organics (this type of modelling is usually used in organic modelling)

but with out super preciseness, effort and patience, it won't look smooth, so use 'Hyper nurbs' (not advised in low poly modelling)

to get hyper nurbs go to
Objects=> NURBS=> HyperNURBS
then drag the object underneath your polygon object in the objects list on the right, until the arrow points down and let go

and its smooth.

Keep practising with those tools, and well, if you look in the Cinema4D section of my forums you will find a head tutorial using the tools shown, the tutorial isn't finished but will hopefully be helpful, there are less time consuming methods than this, but this is a start, you can find your favourite methods after learning your program there are other tutorials around on the net, just look for them

Hope this helps

im a milkshape advocate for the home grown weekend coder.

amapi 5 and 6 were free on the internet, a brilliant program for starting to mesh mash.

stick with milkshape for a while as its export features go well with dbp.
find lithium unwrap for better uv mapping.

this was made using milkshape and photoshop

ok i started a pulse rifle in milkshape but im unsure how to texture the shroud ( or any of it) its no way near finished but heres a quick pic, should i just colour the box green with wear and tear or make a green bmp with the worn down bits on it or does it have to be a certain shape.

I guess you need to understand how Cinema 4D works really for it to be easy, I found Zbrush awkwad, but is incredibly easy, then again a program can only suit its user, if it don't suit them, then the user shouldn't use it

good to hear, once I get back to me PC, as my room is floorless as the plumber is having to do work in there (so I am using me mum's mac) I will write a 'box modelling tutorial' as it is a favourite of many people, minimal polygons, easy, quick, and rarely has upside down normals (can be annoying when making for a game) plus I was told off at CGtalk for using polygon modelling in my work so I'm not gonna make tutorials for people to get into the bad habit

So I guess you've never read out of the Satanic bible, I got me old tutor to do that, and he's a complete jesus lover, complete follower of the bible, and got him to read a bit out of the satanic bible...odd, as you can seem from the name I'm not actually satanist, the Satanic bible is an interesting book to read
