Well, this is my first game... ever. It's kind of old now, and I never completed it because I set my sights high and ended with a very unorganized code. But I worked hard on it, and learned a good deal while making it. It's a fun game (or so the people who've tried it said), and has two and a half levels, as it was just so cluttered by the third level that I had to stop before I could even add a boss. Being my very first game and platformer (I've made nine different platformer engines since), I thought it might be important to post it here, maybe for newbs, maybe for myself. So here it is.

Screen:

Controls:
right key: forwards
left key: backwards
up key: jump
down key: go down pipe

Baddies:
goombas
turtles that drop bombs when you kill them
flies

EDIT: I rememer when I made this now, or at least when I stopped. I stopped working on this in freshman year of high school, and I'm a junior now. So I made this... just under two years ago... I think. Something like that.

Looks good, can't try it though, sorry, because I'm away from home.

Do i smell Super Mario? Hehe, looks great, downloading now. I will give you a opinion later...

Edit:

Looks great, plays great. Even if it is not one of the best 3d-mario-remakes in DB, so is it definatley worth a download. Great Job.

Thanks everyone! I'm glad people like this game!

At one point I was making a sequel to this called Super Simely Face World, with much better models, animations, a spoofy story with cutscenes, and a lot of gameplay mechanics that no one had ever really used much before in a sidescrolling platformer, despite how cool they were. I never finished that, mostly because I got bored with the idea, and then went on to program other games. I dbout I'll ever start it up again, as I've got a lot of projects I'm currenttly working on now, but who knows? I may eventualy write a new engine for it, as it was a pretty cool idea.

Wow this is really nice for a first game. There are a couple of things you might want to work on though. The first is that when you die the program ends and you have to restart it to start over. Also maybe you could add lives if you wanted to but that is more up to you.

True, but WARS is the third game in a series, so while I do have a working engine for it, you wont see it here for a while.

Yeh, I was going to add those things, but when I stopped I just had too much weird code to deal with that at all. And it is around two years old, so I'm not that interested if fixing it now. I can garentee you that other platformers I've made since then do have lives and game overs, though.

Prett cool for a first game... my first game was pretty crap! I take it when that evil 'grin' appears on his face he changes from 'little' smily to 'super' smily. Well done, i wonder what your capable of doing now.

That's actually REALLY good. I'm still at 2d. Though I have the biggest problems with collision. That's really what holding me back.

@Mold Rat, it crashes when you die, and no I'm not willing to fix it. Sorry, but I don't edit projects that are well over a year old (and I recently lost all the code for SSFL).

@hexGEAR, I made this two years ago, but I just recently decided to post it on the forums. As for what I can do now, check out the Block Verse thread on the WIP board. It got featured in the latest newsletter.

@dabip, he he... I completely skiped 2d and went strait to 3d.
That will probably come back to haunt me one day though...
