No, there is no virus. It's been completely scanned. You may want to "update" your Antivirus Software.

Hey Rastaman,
I went to your website and don't find the product description nor the purchase option. I haven't downloaded the demo, but am interested.

Interesting Program. What language is it written in? If it's one I know, I can give you some tips on some very unique (and handy) features.

Hmmmm.

So the game app is extracted at run time and placed somewhere on the drive. Then it gets blown away after the game exe exits.

I'm not sure this qualifies as "total content protection", but it's a start.

Relax or I'll hit you with the whip again.

OK Rasta, I just purchased it. Have to test it yet but looks useful for me. Can I pack another kind of executable, or just FPS?

v1.0 will work with other EXEs, but future versions may not.

The only true content protection would be totally running from Memory, but this would be way too much for end users depending on the size of the game.

I am working on functions to disallow ALT-TAB and ALT-ENTER, so when the game in ON, you 'have' to exit it to end.

This is only v1.0 and any/all comments are great to help expand its usage.

I have experience with shell control programs that disable or enable many things. I use it for my security suite for windows 95 to XP. We could exchange tips, if you want e-mail me.

Probably would be a good idea not to restrict your packer to just FPS, because it can shrink your market. Personally I wrote a program that makes this, for games made on Delphi or other platforms. I like to protect my media.

I also would like to change the icon of the resulting exe, to one that fits my needs. Am going to try right away with my resource editor, but better if it is included on your program.

Thanks for the comments. I am working on the issue of using custom icons and the settings screen. I wrote this in Delphi so maybe we can exchange some tips.

It's a possibility, but that actually relies on coding when burned to a CD.

The settings menu GUI is 80% done with many newly added features. 1.5 should be ready by this weekend.

I have also started working on the ability to make your EXE shareware. So it times out after so many uses or by date. And you can generate License Keys to unlock your game. That won't be in 1.5 but should soon follow.

Here are a few screenshots of the game settings menu (which is optional). That means when you pack your game, you can tell FPSPack to use the Game Settings menu with a selected skin if you want. 50+ Skins are also provided. This will be in 1.5. You can set a 480x88 header graphic as shown below.

@Evil Stick - Don't know what to tell you there dude. Normally permission errors happen when user does not have right to that file or directory..

@Ultra - Is 'take/drop' an actual key bind? Isn't that the 'Use' bind?

@Mr. Love - I am expanding the max resolution. Probably to 1600.

@RastaMan: Yes, is an actual key bind, different from the 'use' one.

Just choose/build a map with dynamic boxes and run it. Then go'n'pick'em, throw'em, drop'em, etc.

@ Chimera - Thats nice, but this one is not free. I am sure the one you 'seen' does not have the additional options as FPSPack.

Thanks Ultra, I will check it out.

It's a handy tool (I'm short of money now but as soon as I recover I'll buy it).

This tool, combined with a reduction of level-loading times and package size (getting rid of unused segments/entities from the final maps) would be very very useful. Let's hope next patches for FPSC fix that.

@ Ultrahead - The 'Take' command appears to be HardCoded in FPSC. There is no setting in the Setup.ini of built games that handle changing this key.

Maybe this is one TGC should add as a custom key bind.

Pain in my head...

Why do people never listen...

RastaMan, so far this looks great, but all of it is easily done and is NOT worth 10 dollars. You are snatching money from little childrens hands, and I say it is not right. Besides, I have the feeling that you really are using a compression format with possible encryption that uncompress' and runs an exe. if this is so, I have to tell other people the truth. Which is that it won't protect their models, they are open for all to see, just open the windows temp file and you'll find them neatly tucked away.

I will soon see exactly what this really can do, but having a very slow download speed doesn't help.

Simply put.. Thanks for your opinion, but you know where you can stick it.

As I said, it's an opinion and thats all it is. Script Kiddies like you need to find a place and cyberspace, and it apparent that your not happy unless your trashing someone elses work.

Maybe, JUST MAYBE when you can code something on your own you will rethink your comments, but then again, users such as yourself are a dime a dozen.

No one said the protection is uncompromising, but for most it will protect from leechers, unlike yourself, constantly looking for avenues of breaking down a protection scheme and ripping its content. You have made that quite obvious.

Its no secret, Zip64 compression and an encrypted archive. But then again, where did you see that the method is unbreakable. It's a 'LEVEL' of protection.

There is not a program, front-end, or mod that can not be cracked on the market thanks to ASM decoders, Decompressors, and things such as Soft-Ice. But I guess you have the market cornered on major protection, on whats effective and not. I don't think so.

My application allows for a 'SINGLE' exe with options, and a form of encryption to help protect the current game developers. Do something better then talk to me. Else go kiddie script your 'better' AI functions.

If you were REALLY smart you could think of a few ways that are higher protection then this. I thank you for confirming my opinion about you with a kind and gental reply.

There are MANY REAL ways of compression and encryption, I merely told the world that you had not done anything really unique. Also, there are programs whose content remains relitivly secure for many months before a crack is found. That is because the people behind that company actually think of ways to beat the system. Not copy it.

Tell me, who did I "kiddie" off of? You? Appearntly you think that all FPSC'rs can't program.
