Hi,

I am interested into creating my own models, textures, etc. Where do I begin? Can someone please point me in the right direction?

I was thinking about buying Carrara 3D Basics 2:http://www.eovia.com/products/carrara3D_basics2/carrara3D_basics.asp

I'd appreciate any advise, help, etc.

Cheers,

Milkshape is a very popular tool. Stable, organized and pretty easy to pick up as well.

yup go with milkshape for starters... or www.wings3d.com

or www.blender3d.com
or www.nevercenter.com : Silo 3d
or the trial of Cararra 4 Pro
or trial of 3ds max
or trial of maya
or trial of Cinema 4d : Thats what i use (i use full version though)

i would go with : wings, blender, or milkshape for starting out

Gr8! Thanks! A tutorial would be appreciated... I'm an absolute beginner (hee hee) and I absolutely LOVE FPSCreator - it's brilliant!!! I'd want to know the following:

How to customize the pre-set characters, can I do this by creating texture maps in PhotoShop? I take it that the file format for textures is BMP?

What 3d model format is compatible with FPSC? How would I go about designing one?

How to create my own scenery / enviroment (as shown on the FPSC site's gallery)?

Thanx!

You might try Gamespace too. It has a lot of video tutorials that you can download before purchasing.

You can substitute the original textures for the models in FPSC, and change them with your own. I believe FPSC uses .X for it's models, which i think Milkshape uses. If not, it probably uses .3ds which is the most common one. There is programs that "translate" the .3ds model to .x models. By scenery, do you meen the textures, or the objects?

Hi,

By scenery I am referring to aspects such as: sky, terrain, etc. I think someone (SkyCube) is selling "Alien Skies" and similar sci-fi scenery & terrain. I was wondering how to create my own.

Like I stated before, I am a complete beginner and I'm keen on getting to grips with FPSC asap!

I've downloaded Milkshape and I'd like to know how to import a character from FPSC for modification. Can anyone help?
