I've read several threads about Poser models and DBP. I have a question about them.

What if you remove the ground, combine the separate parts of the model into one, reduce the polygon count, then rig the model animations up in Character Shop? It seems easy enough. Perhaps I'm missing something. I don't want to waste my time if it just can't be done.

sounds posible, I only got the demo version of poser 6, and seem too many poly for itself, but it wouldn't take too long I wouldn't think to see if it would work, I mean if it looks crap in character shop, then you've got your answer really, instead of going to DBP too

I'll buy whatever software I need to do it. I just don't want to be spending money to be dissapointed. I have no doubt that someone else either has tried it or has the software necessary to. If it will work, I'm buying. If not, I'll do something else.

well, I doubt you would be able to use the poser models 100% to your name, but, I would get an easy modelling software that you like and learn to model, its a pretty addictive thing to do, look around the stickies and other threads for names of 3D software, then you can download demos and buy the one you love the most is my advice.

Oh and i read in your 'Location' you're from Okinawa, I was interested in going there for holiday in a couple of years, is it nice? Live anywhere near Kanazawa sensei? I mean it would be awesome to meet him as I follow the same style of Karate as him

Yeap, I do it all the time. I use Max and a plugin called "GestureMax" to bring the Poser/DAZ figures into Max. Then I use a program called "Action3D" to reduce the model then make all the mods I want to it. Pretty simple.

The great thing about GestureMax is that it rigs a biped and makes it all one mesh. I use stock animation from a friend (he owns http://www.giantstudios.com/) or I head over there and put on the suit and do my own animations. Load the BIP file to the rigged model and there you go.

Hey, thanks. It's a go then.

Sep - I couldn't really tell you if I'm next to Kanazawa sensei, but karate is taught where I live. I live on an American military base. Nice place, best of both worlds.

Okinawa is a nice place. Beach everywhere, beautiful. The weather is like south Florida - sub tropical. That is, summertime most of the year, with some 60 degree weather in winter, and typhoons during August.

Thanks Cellbloc! I got it to work. I reduced the polygons and removed the ground in Max. Then I rigged the model to the animations in Character Shop. Looks good so far.

Well, Okinawa is beautiful. A bit crowded. Of course, I don't get the full experience. I live on an American military base. It's like some version of the Truman show - I see the same people everywhere I go, and they're all about the same age group with the same amount of kids.

I've been on an american military base, theres one up the road, I know what you mean, who'd think there'd be so many Americans j/k, but its the same where you go, around there, I think I prefer the RAF base where we were when my dad was in the RAF, but we didn't have to live on one in Germany, strange, but the quiet lil english village i'm living in beats them both

Damn, I have a fear of crowds, I usually get frustrated and start swearing
