Okay, I'm hoping a mod will see this and sticky it.

Before you post, please read through the manual to try and find the awnser to your question. If it is not there, and it probobly is, then post a question IN NORMAL ENGLISH. And for those of you who speek another language, please use only english on the forums, for simpliicity sake. It's okay if you acsedently misspell a word, or are using translation software, but purpously (there I go again) doing it isn't okay, and it REALY bugs EVERYONE. And were not grammer teachers, but still, please try to make your posts, somewhat reasonible.

Oh yea. dont even THINK of posting something knocking FPSC. In your own thread, someone elses, or what ever.

Thanks a bunch,
=ChrisB=

Are you about to rock?

Then [b]I SALUTE YOU!!!

A voice of reason, Chris. this does need to be stickeyed. newbs- before you post, open the manual in your FPSC directory (usually C > program files > the game creators > fpscreator > documents), and use the table of contents to find the section you need. if its not there, then post. it usually helps to say in your post "ive searched the forums and the manual first, but I cant find it" first.

really, the onslaught of newbyness since V1 was launched in almost unbearable.

Thanks ChrisB and SarusX, this is all we need. As ChrisB said, SPEAK UNDERSTANDABLE ENGLISH.
As SarusX said, SEARCH THE FORUM AND READ THE MANUAL FIRST

thanks to respect that.

I admit it, I'm a uber noob on FPSC. I've come here to find information that is either not in the manual or that I might have missed in the manual or that I could not find in a search (very common). If you don't like it, too bad. There will be a bunch of new people coming in now that FPSC has been released and there will be a lot of repeated questions and answers. Deal with it!! Let those who WANT TO ACTUALLY HELP DO SO, that's what forums are for. To teach and to learn. No one cares if it bugs YOU. Maybe next time you could spend the same amount of time actually helping someone take a step forward in learning instead of whacking them on the head.

For example: I have the demo, how do I link multiple levels? Does the manual state exactly how to do this? I know about the Win Zone too, but how does one actually use it? I've seen that question asked here.. something I wanted to know.. and after doing a search to find the answer all I found was a RUDE RESPONSE to the question! WTF! You tell us to use search and then it turns out THAT noob was kicked in the teeth.

Nice.

I hope you guys never need help that with something others find obvious.

P.S. How is MY english?

Your english is fine except for the WTF.

Personally I do not like the term noob or anything like it - just because someones knew to a forum it dont mean thy are either unitelligent or that they know litle about gamemaking - they may have been around using differing engines for a long time.

On the other hand neither does it mean that they should not follow sensible posting rules as we all should. Almost everyone is intelligent enough to know that multiple posting is not a good idea - its just a fact that being what we are our nature dictates in many instances that its easier and we feel safer asking another human by posting for a human response to a question and sometimes we are either too lazy or even genuinely cant find an answer in manuals or at the forum even when we search - that dont mean the answer is not there - sometimes its missed or cant be understood because the eplanations are not clear or detailed enough.... sometimes like myself you cant see the answer even if is looking you straight in the face or youre tired or just plain confused like what I get....

What a complex animal we are.

So:

Please look for an answer before posting...
Please dont jump on - heres the word - noobs...

Please everyone be nice....

and lastly every forum everywhere should be headed with an official forum posting rule thread which should be stringently adhered to and enforced. Theres no excuses if there are forum posting rules at every forum and they are ignored - you get your wrists slapped.

i know the forums are for helping people and receiving help. but if al of the "newcomers" keep posting questions that are clearly answered in the manual or in other posts, then the valid questions where someone seriously needs help will get lost in the mass.

when i was a newb, i asked dumb questions, but that is because there wasnt a thread with the common questions around here to read...

so...i agree with uman...someone, the mods or one of the devs needs to put up a FAQ somewhere on the forums for common trouble shooting and the simple questions that are asked all the time.

I am really BULLSHOCK, but my profile got deleted...really, i'm telling the truth!

were not syaing dont ask for help... but there is a MANUAL. these forums are better suited for more complicated stuff.. now, i TGC would sticky a thread to this board called 'Newcomer's Corner' or something, then there would be a good place for all *ehem* n00bish questions. but until then, try to read the manual first... it tells all the basics and more..

I see this exact same problem pop on every game development forum I’ve ever belonged to. Ton’s of new users and a handful of experienced users. As YourDoom had stated, there are going to be tons of new users posting on this forum due to the FPS v1.0 release.
With that we’ll be seeing a lot of the same questions being asked.
A FAQ’s section is a great Idea. Or a New User’s section as well.
Over time there will most likely be more and more tutorials and and available resources.
The main key to keeping things running smoothly though is being patient with people.
It’s very easy to get into the habit of talking down to people because your tired of reading the same questions. As frustrating as those redundancies can be it will cause rivalries and perpetuate a very negative feeling on a forum.
Eventually a otherwise good forum gets to be known as rude or elitist.
I do agree. People do need to read the manuals, but the manuals don’t have all the answers and sometimes they are missed by the reader. As I said, just try to be patient and point’em in the right direction.

Ok. I admit that i'm rude with very noobish newbies last times but sometimes i've got a good reason.

example Lewis' post: "If these are already being suggested, nevermind"
first of all, dont reapeat. secondly, in is post, he said things like Sniper Scopes (he really said this) and things that are already easily put into FPSC...

Sorry, but what =ChrisB= was meaning was that they learn faster than almost anybody else, I'm hoping that's what you're saying, right? Cuz I don't think a 14 year old can be smarter than a college professor unless the kid was a Prodigy or something, no matter how many times you put the word GENERALLY in front of it. Sorry, but if what I am saying is not what you're saying then please explain.

Thank you, it's nice to simply get an answer sometimes. I'll try to answer questions I know the answer to, too. ermmm, as well.

And personally, as a new user I find The Manual a little lite. Maybe I'm alone in this but it's how i see it. I'm hoping the manual that comes with the box will be more complete. It's just that I know how powerful and down right killer this app is that I don't want to miss out on cool features. Holler back.

In my experiance with software, and it's a fairly long one, it is the support that makes or brakes a program. Like it on not, this board
is a large part of the support for FPSC. Now, if FPSC is sells well, it will mean that there will be a large number of neubies
on this board. It is self defeating and pointless to remind the newcomers that this, or that, question has been previously answered.
First of all, they may not quite know what question to ask. And let's be frank, the manual is opaque at best. It's incomplete, spotty, and disorganized.
If you can't, or won't answer, just skip it. The time that is wasted complaining about wasting time is seriously out of proportion to the original offense.
If I am any measure, stupid questions will continue to be asked. So, please, if only out of self interest, make people feel welcome.
Thanks.

Also to note, there are a lot of users here that "Actually" don't speak english. They are using translation software which of course can make what they are asking quite funny.

True, true.. except that they all post "hello? anyone there?" and such after each n00bish post and tie up the boards. that way, the valid threads are shunted down so that people cant see them and respond.

Anti-N00b's... that is an idea.

I origanally told myself I would stay out this mess... but you guys need a non-biased oppionion to get out of your cicle.

Yes, we shouldn't yell at n00bs, but THEY should read other post's before asking their own questions. The fact is, probally 10% of all people here actually read the FAQ board (exclude ea'rs). So the fault that the N00bs don't know the answers IS their fault, however it is their fault that they are so fun to yell at. Although rick doesn't like that too much...

In the end run, the n00bs should have a screen showing the most pertainent questions and then need to take a test at the end to make sure that they acctually read the answers.
