Before buying DarkSDK, I'd like to get familiar with the C++ language and syntax. I was wondering if anybody could point me where to start...

For the past 3 years, I work as a C# .NET developer and before that, I worked with VB5 & VB6 with bits of Java. I am not new to OOP techniques. Also, I don't like to learn by examples from forums and do massive search. Where could I find some material (book, ebook, online tutorial) decently structured to make the leap from C# to C++ with VS .NET 2003 ?

I would read an online book called "Thinking in c++". It was designed mainly for people changing from c to c++ but I think you´ll find it usefull.

I second that, superb book, and Thinking In java by the same man (Bruce Eckel)is also a fantastic free book. Get them here http://www.bruceeckel.com/

Hi,

Plain C is enough to program with the SDK, its also much simpler.
So any book about C is enough. K&R being the reference, but you can look for others reference at : http://www.eskimo.com/~scs/C-faq/q18.10.html

ive been reading the "thinking in c++" and i still think sams teach yourself c++ in 24 hours ( or 21 days) is better for a complete begginner with no c++ knowledge at all, then move onto the thinking in c++ ( which can be downloaded for free)
