A: Do sprites move faster/slow down a computer less in DBPro programs then they do in DB programs?

B: Is DBPro actually worth $100 dollars if I already have DB?

Well, I need faster 2D sprites, because I'm still only programming 2D stuff and I haven't even touched 3D yet, so would DBPro be better for that then normal DB?

You can buy the full version at Amazon for the discount (cheap) price (£49).

Sprites are waaay faster in DBP definately - in fact it was one of DBP's main highlights. The 2D commands other than sprites haven't really changed much.

Oh and an invaluble tip now: when loading images always add an extra ,1 at the end (eg: LOAD IMAGE "test.png",1,1) - otherwise DBP blurs them.

As for 3D:

- Faster (Although currently very slow with lots (500+) objects on screen but this is fixed in Patch 4)
- BSP support (Reasonable but geometry is sometimes screwed up and BSPs cause lots of other problems eg ghosted objects ghosting the BSP as well)
- Particle engine (Pretty good actually)
- Shaders (Which don't work half the time)
- Blending FX (Powerful features with sod-all flexibility)
- Terrains (Terrains are pretty half-assed though with very few commands, will be extended around Patch 6 or 7)

generally the memblocks & TPCs are useful for general DBP work (they actually work and have been used to great effect )
