I'm working on a model of a V1 rocket. The problem I'm having is with the smooth/crease angle. I'm using Truespace 5 to export the model in X format, but it doesn't seem to want to appear smooth sided. Is there any flag I can set in an ascii X file that will change this?
Thanks.

Okay. I give up. You can picture a non-smooth object.
Thanks.

I use gameSpace 1.6 and in the settings there is an option for setting the normals,is there not something like that in TS5.

No, there isn't. Also, I have Gamespace light, but the export options dialog doesn't have this. Caligari will sell me GS for about $200, but I don't think that it has enough features, as compared to Ts5 to justify this.

Have you tried using the smooth option in the material editor(I'm assuming TS5 has this)?

I've tried this, but it doesn't seem to save.

In that case theres two options open to you:

1 ask the question on the Caligari forums(others must have had that problem)

2 Get on to Caligari customer support.

TS5's directX exporter never really worked properly, from what I've read.

That's why they brought out Gamespace (even it needed milkshape to start with).

Gamespace light should work, but I think it's based on GS1.5 which I believe had some dx export issues as well.

You can always buy milkshape or fragmotion and get it in the game that way. Blender's fine for static entities, but it's got learning curve issues.

If this doesn't do it for you there's always JimB's suggestion.......

instinct is more valuable than intelligence.....

I'll just finish the model, for the time being, and ask someone to convert it for me.
Thanks, all.
