I have run some searches in this forum, and although I have found some threads, I still don’t really have an answer.

Basically, can someone recommend a suitable video card which would run FPS at an acceptable pace? Unfortunately, cost is an issue, so the cheaper the better please!!

Thanks in advance,

Matt

Eeeek !! Was hoping for something a little cheaper!! lol
3 kids to clothe and feed doesn't leave much cash for graphics cards!! lol - thanks though, I'll check on e-bay

What sort of price range are you talking?
Personally I'd recommend the 6600GT (PNY £140 from Watford Electronics), as this basically runs all modern games with full graphics at more than 60fps, plus is perfectly suited for those comming over the next year.

Budget Cards are bad full-stop. You should only get them if it's a matter of life without games period.

Hmmm, basically I'm after something that will run FPSC ok, not anything else. I was hoping for something under £50, but i am prepared to buy 2nd hand from e-bay. I'm not worried about other/future games as I prefer a dedicated console for serious games playing.

Thanks, that makes a lot of sense. I'll probably stick with what i have then, it's an Intel onboard graphics system. It is on a brand new computer though, perhaps i'm just being too fussy - lol

I really appreciate you taking the time to answer me!!

Cheers,
Matt

hey matt i really dont reccomend you trying to make a decent game with intels onboard graphics as they are insultingly bad if you want a cheap yet good card i would recomend this geforce 5500fx off this website http://www.microdirect.co.uk/ProductInfo.aspx?ProductID=5759&GroupID=331iv used this site before and they are bery efficient, this card will play pretty much any game avalible today on high fine and is only £40 plus postage whcih they keep fairly reasonable so it wont cost more than £50, and most pcs now come with cards roughly this speed so for general game creation this is the card for you

Thanks

Any graphics card can RUN FPSC. hell, I ignored all requirements of all games and still got by with a 8mb intel graphics crap.
