I'm wondering if anybody knows about a cutscene editor out there. I researched and found out about FarCry's Sandbox, but I can't get it. Anybody have some experience with them?

do you understand what a cutscene is?

i dont think there are "cutscene editors" out there...what you need is a modeling and animating package, like 3ds max...it comes with hundreds of tutorials (thanks cellbloc)...and all the othere stuff you need to create avi's...after that, your gonna want a video editing package...i recamend adobe premeire pro...its the best ive found so far...

although, if your on a budget, you can use blender for avi's and windows movie maker for video editing.

I still think anim8or is the best free 3d package.

It does modelling, animating, character animation and rendering all in one and is so much less complicated than blender. I'm using anim8or to do the cut-scenes for my game, Demon.

I use Anim8or from time to time, but I found it a little hard to get started with. For me Blender is much more user-friendly, and I prefer the layout a lot more. Ultimately, it's your choice. There are some great tutorials on the website: http://belnder3d.org

It really depends on what kind of cutscene you are doing.
IF you are doing a really high tech 3d CGI one (toy story) kind of one you will need an expensive program which you need to be a genius to use anyway.

What you need to do is buy an editor or just use a simple one like Windows movie maker. And do in game recordings (machinimation) and then just edit the clips you record. But for some reason when I do this the frame rate is too slow and all goes to hell. Oh and I give up. If you wanted really advanced cutscenes, you would need to script a little though.

yeah a cut scene is just a animation some one has made that either plays as a movie file or is rendered in game, bottom line it's a animation some as any other never heard of anything doing all of the animating for you.

But in something as simple as anim8or can you import the kind of model quality and make good scenes?

Ah.

You want to bring in 3D models, as such as if it was "in" your game, move the camera around like you were a director of a movie, with close ups and such.

Good luck!

truespace 3.2 is free, imoprts objects, and renders animation files.
You'll need to convert your objects to either .cob,3ds, or obj. format. You can use the free version of 3d Exploration for that.
Of course, you'll have to learn how to use these, but it's not that hard. Probably the hardest part will be to do the animations. You may have to cut and paste.
Both of these programs are available on the web.Do a search.

TrueSpace looks pretty good, I'll start working with that. If you can tell about any others, i'll look at them too though.
