Im working on a snake and a dragon for a school project. This is this snake so far:

Obviously its not a final quality render and lighting isn't complete.
Comments welcome. Also, I was wondering if anyone had some tips on making the teeth whiter. I have the RGB sliders to full white, but it still seems kinda grey. Also, the eyes aren't great either.

the model looks good. but i think atm the snake looks alittle plastic. the bottom row of small teeth look funny or misplaced like they dont match. the eyes arent to bad but they too look like plastic. add a tougne and some minor fixes and the final product will be a masterpiece. (note: im not bagging just giving crit for your wip)

as for your egg white problem. i think it might be blender . cause i made a test render of a tooth just for you(i know im that great of a guy)and i got perfect with. with an RGB slider (255,255,255)

so i dont know what to tell you. but good luck on these projects.

The big teeth from above are too close, they should be a bit far away from each other, and the eyes should be more like on the sides of the head and not in the front part, as far as i know, snakes don't stare at stuff, and they don't look forward, but im no expert so i may be wrong. Then it is that it shrinks too fast, or the head is too big, or maybe is the perspective camera , the texture also seems to be quite stretched, specially on the head, and a tong would suit it ... nothing else comes to mind, besides the color of the mouth, but think thats somewhat obviuos... Oh, and its tail is too sharp, should end more rounded...

Ok did some more work:

Im not sure how to fix the plastic problem. Also, for the eyes, the picture of a rattlesnake that I was looking at appeared to have eyes facing forwards. I rounded out the tail a bit and here is a top view so that you can see the proportions.

Thanks again for the crit!

there was a tutorial on blender's main tutorial site, it's the one with the snowman, they show you how to make a pure white object without making it look bad :/

btw, I can't really see the tounge on the 2nd image

I'll give you some toast

Hmm i guess I just don't understand what you mean neodilito. Also, I have a colored light which is changing the color of the teeth.

looks pretty cool, only thing that gets me is the inside of the mouth, and the shadows, does Blender/Yafray have soft or Area shadows, because I would think they would make it look nicer

Ya it does as I said it isn't final quality and lighting isn't final. Does anyone have any suggestions for inside the mouth because I can't figure out how to make it look better :/

I think the inside of the mouth could do with texturing, I'm sure you can find reference images on the net, even a simple bump map would do

It must be just me, but I think the head could be a bit smaller, of course it could be the angle, as the top view looked correct. Other then that, it's a beautiful snake. I hope the dragon is of similar quality.

If you stand not beside me, then I assume you to be my enemy.

its a nice model. one thing i would say is that the frint teeth perhaps need to be a bit thinner. Good work though

Hey again. Unfortunately the dragon turned out as crap since I only had 1 and a half days to do it, and only a couple hours each day :/ . I basically did the other half of modelling, all of texturing, rigging, posing, and lighting today. But i'll make it better now that there is no deadline. Btw, do you think that the snake is good enough quality to put in my professional portfolio which I am saving for when I apply for a job?(its currently empty :p) Anyway...I'll post the dragon as it is going to be for the assignment. Once again i'm gonna improve on it, so crit is appreciated.

EDIT: in fact, if others agree with me, I might completely re-make it because the more I look at the the worse it seems. Curse my group members who dont' realize how long it takes to make 3d art.

interesting, I wouldn't put your snake in a portfolio, because you'll end up making something much better when the time comes, and the snake will draw attention away from that work that will be so much better

Hey the teeth could use some fiddling with the specularity. That could help them look a little more realistic if they had a thin film of saliva or something on them. Try using AO in the world panel as well, it makes things look a little better.
