thanks for all the comments the lot of ye.

Its not a mug shot, I got it off of a website that gives pictures of people for 3D modelling, and this dude was a free sample. I would give a link, but contains nudity, and well I guess I wouldn't be allowed to

@K razy, I think I know what you mean, uh, on my next update I'll post the referance pictures if anyone wants to try, because I think they're very useful photos.

can you email that link to me. i really need to learn how to make characters. still having a hard time with it. anys I dont understand how to poly model the top of the head. much rather box model the head personally. but once again i havent learned(havent practiced much either) charaters so your way is probaly better .

You need to take into account perspective distortion on your reference. Your head there looks a bit funny on the 3/4s angle, dispite the fact it follows the reference image.

the effect of perspective distortion is to make things closer to the camera larger, and things further away and to the sides smaller, think about what sort of effect that would have on the face... Kinda seemns obvious when you write it down i guess, but i didn't cotton onto the effects for years until someone at polycount told me about it a couple of months ago.

I think you need to pull the corners of the eye sockets back mainly, and the nose looks a bit low and curly for my tastes.

@Manic, thanks, I know its not completely proportional yet, but am adjusting each bit, like I was told he has no cheek bones, all working towards it.

@Add, Hair department, I don't think Shave and cut is CE 6 compatible, plus Hair department is free

great you fixed the cheek bones i was gonna say that, but i think the torso is just a little to small. the head looks realy tough and muscular but the shirt seems like ts just hanging down on a little 14 year old/emaciated body .

btw this is me just being very critical, the model is already above great standards, another great work

I completely agree, I've been trying to fix that, but, I guess for me to sort the shirt out is to re-do it. Thanks

And no thats not too critical, t'was helpful

Fair point, thanks, I'll just lower the tile count number, when its too low the bumps get pixelated, that should be solvable by making another bump map in photoshop
