it's like a super bump map, you can use the detail off a high poly model and map it onto a low poly model

There is a lot of object in FPSC medea that is normal mapped. So yes, just make shour you turn on the piexel shading.

thanks, now may I ask what format should the normal map be saved in and how do I let fps creator know to use the normal map. I haven't been able to find much about acually useing normal maps just stuff on how to make them.

Well I do not know, but if you give me a little I will find out how.

I think you are going to need to creat a model
(in the .X format) that is normal mapped and then write a config file that the object use in fpsc and tell it were the shader is.

But I do know now if this is right and will write back telling you latter.

Thanks Finn Man, Ultrahead it's known as paralax mapping also. I had only heard of it as normal mapping.

Yes, some refer to this kind of mapping as parallax also.
