Hi guys,

I really need help with customizing my hud, i've done some nice graphics, and I thought i could get it all to work out, I've read the posts on the forum and the hud tutorial.

But i've just screwed everything up, I've got images here and bloody counters over there..everythings just messed up and i'm getting really angry with myself now.

please help me out

Krazykris,

Greetings. Well, start by specifically describing what you've done, what you are attempting, and providing a screenshot of what your HUD looks like now. Gotta give us a reference point if help can be offered.

Thanks,

Seth Black

Thanks for the quick reply Seth, I've taken a screenshot for you to have a look at.

Basicly, what i was attempting to do, was to move the graphic i made and the health and life counters to the bottom left, and then move the gun and the ammo counter to the bottom right.

I thought it would be rather easy but everytime i think i've done something right, I test it and it's just in the complete wrong place.

I'm not familiar with HUD customisation, do you provide X,Y co-ordinates for the text locations or rely on the image dimensions (with transparant wedges)?

If, it is co-ordinates then just look at your screenshot and then imagine the 2D axis, and work out whether you need to reduce or increase the x co-ordinate and the same for the y co-ordinate. I'll read up on it, and get back to you (probably the best idea )

Hi John,

I'm just using X,Y co-ordinates, You had the same idea as me, Trying to imagine a grid on screen, but it just didn't seem to work.

I changed the co-ordinates to where i was certain it would place the items in the right place, but they'd end up no place near to were i wanted them.

OK, well if that is the case then just concentrate on one item at a time.

Take the 9 for example, the X location looks pretty good, just the Y position is off. Try reducing the Y by 10 or so, and see what different it makes. Hopefully with a bit of trial and error you can get it to the right height.

No luck, It seems that when i adjust the X or Y axis even by just 1, the position changes alot, to be honest..it seems almost random.

if you are editing using the options within FPSC i reccomend you try editing the script file for your game instead because i did this an i have customized the HUD with no problems

Thanks

To be honest, i'm not sure how to edit the script file..I'm still new at this, but learning all the time.

I was wondering, do you think theres any chance that someone will make a program like the FPSC menu maker, but a FPSC hud maker?

Theres some great programmers and scripters on here, I'd even be willing to pay to have a program like that made.

, Why should i not say that? Is it something to do with Monster pinching Merranvo's idea?

Don't worry, I havent bought the FPSC menu maker..I don't trust monster anymore.

But it would be just so great if someone could make it, and like you say "something useful for new people"

And you couldn't... AWW...

Huds are easy, as are menus.
So your running off of the original menu?

Kay, you CAN use the build editor. Do you know how?

HUDs are pretty easy to create, but getting the X,Y axes correct is what bugged me the most. It never seemed to do what I told it to - I had to change what I wanted to, then change something else to get the last thing to work. Frustrating indeed, and even that sometimes didn't work.

I can do the x and y for you, just need a basic layout.

We are all nice, except for that one who's name starts in a m and ends in erranvo.

Evil Stick - Don't worry about it, I had already gotten it to work, I was just saying about how it seemed to be quite strange.

it is all on percentages, I don't see how it is that strange. But then again, I work with x/y alot of times. (Try FLASH, if any X/Y's are screwed up, those are, the more objects you create (and go in) the screwier the x/y's are.)
