Yes.

Left shift cycles up through available special weapons
Left Ctrl cycles down through them.
Forward slash launches whichever weapons is selected.

OK, sorry I've been a little annoying.
It must be my computer...It doesn't work. Oh well...I won't bother you any more on that.

Just click. He said that it seems to hang after it loads. I thought it hanged for a second, then I remembered what he said.

For me I get to the loading screen, the bar goes just about all the way across, then nothing happens, it just sits at the load screen until I press escape.

Nice...plays as good as it looks . I was never a fan of Asteroids, but I like this remake.

The asteroids are still looking sexy, the sounds are very atmospheric and give it a nice touch.

Thanks for the bump and the kind words So, I think it is only fair I give an upadate ...

The core game was complete until I released the demo and realised that I needed to fundamentaly change the code to accomodate the lower spec'd user. So, I am now tweaking the collision detection and then I will be ripping the code apart and making it timer based instead of sync locked .. something I should have done from the start and something I will certainly be doing in all future projects.

The shop system where you buy upgrades between levels is almost complete. Just a few minor things to implement but only a couple of hours of coding to finish it. Although I may yet change the GUI. I'm not to happy with the look of it and might change it to make it more like the options screen.

As for the options screen ... it's about 50% complete. It could be finished in two or three days if I set my mind to it. The trouble is, at this time of year there are too many distractions.

Also, I have just bought www.scragglegames.com and need to do something with it so that I am not just waisting money on an empty site.

And as if that wasn't enough, there is also the temptation of the caiman compo. I have an idea for a game that I could knock out in a month or so but that would mean Roughnecks would have to take a back seat until it is complete and it is always difficult getting back into a project when it has been left alone for a while.

But that's how things are at the moment. So, if you are waiting for Roughnecks to be completed (as I know a few people are) then don't worry, it will be. I'm just not sure if it will be in a week or in two months.

Watch this space

It's been a while since I had chance to work on this, but I have now firmly taken up the rains once more.
I have been working on shinyness today. I didn't like the look of the flame from the ships engines, it was a bit 'British Gas'. So I have made it a little more flame like:

Thanks ... glad you like it

Here's another image, this time with all thrusters firing.
You can see the main thruster to the rear, lateral thrusters at each side, twin reverse thrusters and the blue plasma thrusters used for turning.

If I my blow my own trumpet, I think it looks fantastic in motion

Click the download button to view it.

It's only 833Kb, so even you 56k'ers should have no problem with it

He said in the same post as the demo to push space or enter or something when it finishes loading because it waits for the key press. Don't worry, you are the 3rd person who missed his note.

[edit]Very nice video! I really like the fx!

What does? ... the demo?

If it is the demo, then when the loading bar completes, click the mouse and the game will run. It is only a quirk with the demo and doesn't do that in the main game.
