This one SERIOUSLY puzzles me. Im making a small pong game. (ooh original?!?) But anyway. whenever the ball (sprite) passes the paddle, DB causes an invalid page fault in . This especially confuses me since one time i ran the program fine to test something new added, no probs played well everything fine. saved the file (using darkedit). Later on, i loaded the file (darkedit again) and tested it WITHOUT altering it and DB caused the above when the ball left the screen. This was weird as only paint was open, and i have plenty of memory available/graphics mem/cpu usage low etc. My pc has had no changes at all for nearly a week, nothing new installed or anything. Im absolutely baffled and i was wondering if anyone knew what is going on. (rich probably would be a good one here!!)

In the mean time, i cannot use DarkBASIC so im pretty miffed as I was enjoying making pong (Am I ill??) until this happened!

Actually the above is wrong. When the ball sprite leaves the screen (top or bottom). The screen returns to desktop and An Illegal error message displays: DDhelp has caused an invalid page fault in unknown. Any time after this has happened (before shutting down PC) DB causes an invalid page fault in unkown. I've still got about 2 things to try and help this, but its not looking good for me!

Man I thought I was the only .
The same thing happened to me more than one time.
I dont have an answer but I think its a bug in DarkBasic
that has something to do with 2d.

Id suggest coding around it. Just check if the ball goes too high or too low then to gosub to a little screen saying "Ball went off table!" Then go right back to your game. You could call it a 'feature'

my guess would be it has trouble placing the sprite pixles on areas of the screen that dont exist, like a height of -10 pixels

Finally, a breakthrough!! (Whew!) I went onto microsoft.com for an insight onto ddhelp, its a small DirectX File (UhOh). All I did was update to DX 9.0 And no more problems.
Im so happy, and my pong game is no in It's finishing touches. Probably wont get finished for a few more days though cos I just got a 32-X. Oh well thanks for trying.
