I havent modelled forever, so within my good old 10 minute boundry, I made this:
A fighter, that has a hull texture (bumped), with a hollowed out plate of armor. Sorry, cockpit kept killing itself.

i dont see why people should be proud of spending such a short ammount of time on a model, but it might be better to post some renders since the ship was rather small on the anim and very eratic movement not spaceship like, maybe some slower movement flying close to the camera so you can see all the details etc etc.

ok just saw the 2nd vid, still rather random movement and the hull plating does seem excessive but its pretty cool for 10mins work i guess, the ship design could do with some overlooking tho maybe less box like and more interesting some towers/turrets hangar? radars etc etc

Because I hate detail. Detail. I use models in DBP, and when I make really sweet 14day-forever long detailed AWESOME models, it gets lost. The first one was a fighter...It is supposed to move agile. The second, I dont know wtf happened to the end. It looked fine in max. I will edit it of course.
I am making a fighter launch sequence right now. will post when done.

edit: thanks! I will try to add a bit more detail to them! The first one was a cheap knock-off inside joke thing, but the second I think I spent 10-12 minutes.

Wow, not only did you read into my posts, I never said I was good. As you saw from the title, I havent modelled forever. I forgot how to do things in Max! wow. Just wow. I even said some sucked. So please, read all posts, BEFORE YOU POST. I just wanted to post saying "Cool, I am back modelling, I will be starting to get better at modelling!". I know this may sound as if I am flamming you, but I do think that post was a bit rude. Sorry If you take offense.

lol 'The crazy' kinda random comment, seems the noob bashing has brushed onto everyone.

and how did you do the hull plating? is it some sort of normal map or displacement map? , other than the hull plating i think the fusalage details are rather basic and the shape isnt very immangonative no glowing nacels ^^, or no engines at the back or anything it might be better to copy some ships from scifi programs or something.

I use the tool to divide the ship into 200 sections, then use random bevels, then export, then import, then divide again, and divide the bevils into beveled areas. Long process, but I like the result. It can make some wild ships! Yes, I am working on a detailed "render" version of the ships, but I still am trying to remember some things with max.

Also, I believe there is a 3ds max plugin that produces bevels or something.

Well, I made a few changes to the vertexes! Now the bottom is more outward, making it look more like a sea craft that a spacecraft! More changes in detail soon!
(end result will be medium poly and free to use, in games(ddont think it would be wise ), and renders or logos.)

I think its suffering from a lack of different textures. Maybe add some lights on the sides and make it look less "perfect" by adding some blast marks or little bits of damage. Its looking better tho.

Im sick of Master Chief soo...ooga booga!!
Explain to me why some people pay money for 3d software? Its not 3d till its been blended. wwww.blender3d.org

did the extrusions on the hull you added mess it up(the little bumps)? It looks way to high poly for games so you could just texture it by selecting faces and choosing a texture for them. I dont' know if the all powerful 3ds Max can do that but blender sure can

Just drag-select some faces over on the sides of the ship and give them a window texture like yellow or blue or whatever. It shouldn't be that difficult.
