Hi there
I would be most grateful if any one could pitch in comments about this model. Also the title says, it is a man model wearing a shirt and pants - haven't done the head yet! It's sort of like Tony Hawk in Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2.

Also, minor note, this is only my SECOND man model - please be gentle!

Thanks everyone

The basic shape looks to be there if a little out of proportion also hes missing a head, how many polys is it?

I put up a generic dude model for people to mess with(alter the dude in any way you like) if you are interested:-

Thanks for the comment JimB.

Here's an updated pic.

Please elaborate on how is he out of proportion, where, by how much etc...?

About the head - I haven't started yet - want to get the body just right first.

Finally - nice model you've got there!

Double finally (), the model is 1516 faces.

Thanks again

Whoa! Didn't realise you were online the same time as me! I just saw your post. Here's a back side pic.
By the way - I'm just starting out in modelling and graphic arts - I'm usually the programmer.

Here's the wireoverlay.

Thanks for helping out

Note that this guy is wearing a baggy like Tshirt (not exactly fitting against his skin) so I though I'd leave the wide hips a little. I know I know, I need to adjust the hands, feet, and loosen up the pants - I'm on that

It looks like you're well on your way to producing a good model, just one last comment watch the crotch specially if you're going to animate him.

It looks great for only your second try!

the legs and arms look a little small to me... (and, of course, he's missing a head )

Thanks guys for the comments I think he'll look better with textures!

I'm moving some more stuff around - hold on for further updates.

About animation - yes - I will be animating him but I think I'll be using that Change Mesh command. What do you guys think?

Thanks again

EDIT: Oh yeah - I kept his showing arms and legs a little small so that he looks like he's wearing a really baggy shirt and pant, to give him that goofy like feel (like Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2). What do you think?

if that's what you are going for i wouldn't have the pants taper down so gradually, it seems like they are really tight vertically, but loose otherwise... (if you get what i mean )

the sleeves seem fine though...

Yeah I do get what you mean. I'm adjusting that right now. And I'm working on the head now too. I was thinking short kept hair and sharp face but warm eyes and smile.

Hi again, here's a VERY early version of the man with the head - please don't laugh. I just did it up in a few hours!

Actually that isn't a hole it's just a face direction error - I'll fix it.

Do you think I should delete the head and redo it?

Thanks again for the comments. I can't wait to get this guy textured

If you're going to animate him do that before you texture because you may have to alter the model to get it to animate the way you want
and that could mess up your UV's.

Shall I post the model up here so that you can mess around with him? Or maybe I should give it a try by myself? What do you guys think?

I need to know something else. With regard to polygon count; does the NUMBER of polygons affect the performance or does the SPACE THEY TAKE UP affect the performance?

As I understand it ,its the number of triangles that your graphic card has to draw and update that affect performance.
(probably badly put)

yeah, it's the number, not the area they take up...

Thanks again for support

Anyway, I've been busy doing something else. The main reason I was creating this guy was to work in my project but seeing as I need a demo project soon, the guy's gonna have to wait - too bad since he's still without a good head

Anyway, here's the latest I've got (same as the latest picture above). Anybody wanna test it around, no problem - just hope you'll post a copy and shots as soon as he's looking better

Thanks a bunch again guys
