Hi everybody I am trying to make a 3d space simulator and I'm in need of a way to make the engines look 3D!! I've been using the make plane function and then texturing it, but from my perspective it looks good but it's not the way I imagined..something like

ummm. Is that a DGDK game?
Sorry I have no idea how to do a plasma effect but I´ve recently found out the the codesnippets section is a gold mine.

My signature has been erased by me because it's LARGE.
Thank you for the votez!1!

Last I heard Evochron was written in DB Classic, pretty amazing. As for the engine glow effects I'm sure there are quite a number of ways to do it. The engine glows or part of them could be a part of the actual model (animation). That could be mixed with a particle system and other effects (lens flare, smoke particles, engine trails) to produce the final result.
If you want to know how Vice created the effect for Evochron, you might want to ask him, I've always found him to be pretty cool.
