Who created this screenshot and are the high rises on it available somewhere? I'd love to have stuff like this in a project of mine.

Be inovative and creative.... don't create a fps with FPSC.

no idea who created it. the texture is custom, since i haven't seen it with the defualts bu remember the whole grid size is width=40 length=40
height=20 so with the height i guess its just a load of room sections on top of each other

my acutal online name is EduCatEd rOdeNt
company name: Computev Limited
game under development: Death wish

I would suppose that he means that someone should be "inovative and creative" and make something other than a First Person Shooter using FPSC. In other words, could you make a Myst-like game with it or some other game? That would be my guess.

Cities and buildings are easy enough to create and use in FPSC.

If you just want externals of buildings then you can use model .x files created in a modeller as static entities. They can be any size or shape. You can just as effectively use stacked room segments and the teture quality tends to be better as its tile based and not one texture stretched over a large building area.

If you want buildings you can enter then using stacked room segments are best and you can texture them differently inside and out as you would normally. Shape details for buildings if you need them can be part of any segment .x model or added as static entities and placed where needed.

That's a sweet screenie - any more like it kicking around?

Incidently, I'll be paying attention to sigs here, flamey sigs are a big no-no, any volitile signature get's edited in the corniest fashion I can think of at the time. Be warned!.

Sorry, but my signature wasn't meant to be flametory at all. I'm creating something completely else with FPSC (just like Daniel Silverman suggested).

I got it due to a comment I did see one of the 'experts' make, something along the lines of 'how could anyone ever create a non-fps with FPSC, that's impossible', while it isn't impossible at all.

Back to the topic, thanks to all of your replies to my question. I'll be looking on the web for the texture then, perhaps BULLSHOCK 2 remembers were he did see it?

Sorry Benjamin - I assumed it was another one of those kneejerk comments from a DBPro user . I thought you were having a pop at FPSC so I edited your sig .

That's pretty cool though that your making something completely different - should be an interesting project.

Van B..... can I change it back or should I come up with some else???

I'm not a DBPro user at all. I'm just using FPSC as a teaching tool for children. The learn about a certain topic, by meeting characters in the FPSC enviroment. To make the teaching more fun, there's a mini game aspect added to it. Mini games like find the key, pick up balls in a maze, build bridges across a gap, find hidden items and so on. No shooting and stuff, but fun little games to play while learning something.

I've looked at a number of game and 3D enviroment engines for this purpose and found that in my case, FPSC is the best choice for it. Easy to use, quick world building, nice physics and quite easy to use scripting.

So, imo FPSC can be used for more then just a fps!

@crow34, would you care to share how you did it and where you did get the textures (perhaps you created it yourself)?

@Wheel Gator, that would be great!

@ crow34

Make some more and then release them to the community, there really good

@ Wheel Gator

Run home really quick, catch the bus, steal a moped, childs skateboard, that huge dog from neverending story..anything, just get home and release your texture...if it's not to much trouble, release them as a ready made segment, my segments always seem to turn out wrong when i do them.

Well I finally managed to create a small sample city with crow34's texture. I edited them to get some variation.

@crow34, would you allow me to release these city block segments to the fpsc communtiy for free? (I guess I can, just want to make sure.)

FPSC is way to cool, you can create even more then a fps with it!
