If you like to create and modify your own textures, I highly recommend using "DDS Converter 2". The program is a viewer that converts image files. Its free, easy to use, and you can covert between .BMP,.JPEG,.TGA and .DDS at will. Sorry, I don't have a link, just Google the thing and you'll find it easy enough. Hope this one helps!

Texturing Notes:
-Modified entity textures can be loaded when you select a specific entity. Look for it on the list. (In entity mode right click on the entity and the list will appear)
-Remember the editor likes to use .DDS and .Tga files. It appears all the textures used in the game can be modified.
