Im making a hi-detail lego attack buggy that I made in lego's designer. This is only on step 2 out of 21 so it has a while to go. These are NOT screens from lego designer they are blender, im using the designer version as a reference and modelling it from scratch.
Just wanted to make sure there is not confusion :p

im at step 16! getting close to completion.
I think it will look a little less busy when it is rendered w/ textures.

Why don't you use that lego cad thing?

looks pretty sweet dude, can actually feel the urge to pick it up and put it into my mouth (what? I used to do that as a wee lad, dunno why, I just used to like chewing lego)
With some realistic lighting and a render in yafray with radiosity, you could make it look pretty realistic

@Evil stick, I believe he's using this as modelling practice and now show, using the lego cad thng would make it too easy

Your signature has been erased by a mod because it's larger than 600x120...

I have to say that looks realy realy nice! As Seppuku said. With a good render you could make that realy Realistic.

Geometry is now finished:

Now all thats left is some tweaking, textures, and then the render!
Thank you for your comments everyone.

@ evil stick: i wouldn't call the lego progam i have "modelling" its like asking someone why they didn't use the 3d gamemaker instead of c++/darkbasic. And also as I said above i already made it in a lego cad program and im using that as a reference. Besides, i need the practice if im gonna have a chance of doing this for a living

The lego model will be on their site eventually if someone likes the look of it :p
You can actually buy the sets you make now with their new program its pretty cool.

Why would you need to UV map it? Lego is a single colour, you'd only have to uv map the top of the cylinders for the Lego logo.

Haha...its not for games so no need to UV Map it. I can just assign textures to dif objects and if neccesary assign a Lego logo texture to tops of studs.

Thank you
I have two different renders, first is yafray and second is blender internal. Personally i like the internal one better, although i added some reflection in the second one that wasn't in the first. The second one just looks clearer tho.

Yafray:

Blender:

This is where I need a lot of critique because im not too good at photo realistic rendering as you can probably see.

Awesome! The Yafray one is a bit dark.

Thanks, but what do you mean by resizing artifacts? Do you mean the noise?

Ooga Booga let me say that your earlier work I wasn't a fan of. But wow. Just wow. The rendering of that lego buggy is amazing. It just shows that Blender can match the pro tools like 3DS Max...

Heh, thanks. Do you mean early as in waaaay back when I was attempting to use Strata 3d(the really old free version)? I posted some pretty embarrasing stuff lol which id rather not go back to. Anyways here is a new version:

I still can't quite get those other amazing renders ive seen of legos that were done with POV ray so maybe i should download that.
