Meh. I don't like anim8or much. It's good to start out with, but if you just start off with milkshape, though it will be hard at first, I think you will benefit more...

Stick with blender man it will take you places. I figured out how to get UVMapped models from blender into dbpro, just export the model as .obj and then use Deep Exploration(get the 30 day demo) to export that to direct x. Do the tutorials on the site, play around with it and i think you will find you lke it.
Its your choice of course just giving my 2.03 cents(adjusted for inflation)

Im sick of Master Chief soo...ooga booga!!
Explain to me why some people pay money for 3d software? Its not 3d till its been blended. wwww.blender3d.org

I agree with ooga booga, I took the anim8or road, and was completely rubbish until I got me hands on C4D, but blender I would say is the awkward GUI free equivalent, I'm guessing once you got the hang of the GUI it will be easy, always is once you know the gui, plus you will have the 'baker' feature, native to blender and C4D 9.5 (dunno about any other 3D apps) Baker is basically a lightmapper, but you can 'bake' the glow effects onto the model etc.

Most people are put off by Blender's gui, but learning it would be better for you later

all 3d packages will be hard to learn at first you just need to pick one and stick with it for awhile, blender is pertty good after you learn how the tools work (like any program.)just stick with it see how it gos.

i use maya & lightwave and love them.

I say Wings 3D. I switched to it from anim8or and am already loving it. Current WIP with it is a set of swords

your best bet is to download every trial/demo of every 3-d program you can get your hands on....

What you will find is that each application is different in it's own way and what works for you may not work for me....

The biggest thing is too find an application you can work with, meaning get something that your comfortable with because almost all of the bigger apps can be converted to dbpro acceptable formats...

And if you're comfortable with one program, but it can't export to a DBPro friendly format, take your comfortable prog, export a file another prog can import, and then export it in a DBPro firnedly format from there.
