yes and if you believe you will ever even use half of that Ram i have to laugh are you one of those people that thinks your computer will go faster with more ram than it will ever need by any chance...

Thanks

Wow, a TB HD, I honestly cant get my head around using nearly that much, and 4GB of RAM, one of my friends HD is smaller than that.... Shame though, you still cant run BF2, LOL!

Just for the sake of argument, there is no point having a terabyte harddrive. And the fact that you do must mean that either this is a company computer or you have a lot of spending power.

Also... isn't it

if (you==n00b) {
askForHelp()=ok;
}else{
askForHelp()=0;
}

or does something else support "!=" ?

4gb RAM is not necessary for anything in today's world... there is not a single app. out there today that benefits from that much RAM IIRC.

@Origin.. if you really want to show off your system then post some benchmark results. Other than that those specs don't say much

I think this much ram and HD space makes a lot of sense... for someone who needs that.
I myself have less RAM but like 7 TB of HD space attached to my machine.... everyone who is into graphics/video can never have enough RAM and HD space.
I actually don't think he is using one single HD with 1 TB capacity.. but more like two 500 GB disks...
If you ever worked professionally with graphics and video applications, even one dual-core AMD 64 with the specs like Origin has it is not enough.... You would most propably work with SGI's where 4GB Ram is like "basic" or with multi dualcore CPU workstations....
So, what I mean... a system can never be big enough... if you really need it as a poweruser.... for gaming this is not required... at least not yet...
...hmmm... well.. not really sure why I said all that, but I guess I just wanna say... let everyone have as big Machines as they want.. even if they don't know what to do with it.... People drive big SUV's in cities.... hey.. that's totally sensless, too... but they just want to drive these cars... and so it's okay!

I remember when everyone thought that a 1G Hard drive would never be filled up by a normal user.

I miss that 486 DX....especially Red Baron.

i had i gig of ram in my machine, and it took about an hour to render a very well mapped animation...

after i upgraded to my new comp (4 gigs of ram), i rendered the same animation, at double the resolution, and ittook me 10 minutes...

it went so fast i was basically watching the animation instead of renderig it!!

also....a terrabite HD...NO need for that...

i have internal 300 gig hd and external 120 gig hd...its MORE than enough...

although i would like to backup my comps internal...maybe i should get an external 300gig hd...

Terrabytes are only used in hardcore animation, graphics arting... anything with pictures, 3d, or animation in it.

The raw HiQual files are very big

I've read that having huge amounts of ram like 2-4 gig can actually slow down your computer in general use.

2gig is good if you do rendering and for some games (if you have quality ram), but apparently you get a performance hit at other times.

Don't quote me, it's all heresay.

I'm not sure having 4 gig would be of any great benefit unless it was of the quality, low latency, dual channel variety. Probably for most applications, not even then. And that would be expensive.

I wonder if the performance problems some people are experiencing with FPSC is because of small/crappy ram?

I have 1gig of geil ram and apart from some loading slowdowns on Battle For Middle Earth it never skips a beat.

Also, for the record, dual core systems can also be slower for some apps, especially if they're not made for dual core/hyperthreading. But that's being picky.

instinct is more valuable than intelligence.....
