Hey everyone! Me and a guy called Justin have been working an a game for quite a while, and so I thought that it would be a good idea to announce the production of 'Aliens'

It's a 3D First Person Shooter made with Dark Basic Pro. I have been doing all of the design side of the game, and Justin has been doing the building side of the game. Please do check out some of our screenshots and extras included in the attatchment, and tell us what you think. Thanks!

Seems nice, but the game looks WAY too dark. And post the pics here or make links to them rather than a download, or fewer people will see them.

Good luck, I hope you finish this.

Going to agree with everyone else on the lighting side of things, but if you say it's better in game then fair enough.

Apart from that it looks good, looking forward to seeing more of this.

Have you thought about getting a copy of darkmatter? There's a few models in there that you might find useful.

Soapyfish:
Ive seen darkmatter and its models and I must say they all look very good but sadly I dont have the money to aford it right now. I know its cheap but so am I

Hawkeye:
The lighting isent done in a lightmapper im just using the light commands inside darkbasic pro. So far ive ran into alot of problems using them but ive gotten them how I want them now and its not looking to bad imo.

Ok I just added my super scary alien that I accualy modeled myself! Well ok maybe its not that scary but it will do as a placeholder. Ive also set up the AI for the aliens to move around the level and its pretty good the alien can follow you around corners without to much of a problem. Its not perfect AI but its also not to bad.

lol just played the alpha demo, it's some great work, besides a few glitches. The AI he talks about is pretty good, the alien didnt walk through a wall but found its way around the corner to come get me! and even around crates and stuff. good work dude, just add a darn torch!

Really nice game! I just tried the demo.
One thing i though were a bit irretating though, is that when an alien hits you, the player screams I know he should, but it just irretates me. I didn't find the game too dark though

I like it! The guy knocking on the door was an awesome effect and scared the crap out of me! the spider aliens you have would go great with some vents! You need more sound though, and the scream doesn't really do much for the feel of the game. findsounds.com is a great place to find any kind of sound, and it's free. some echoing footsteps would go nicely with the darkness.

good luck with the rst of tihs project

At this time im not sure if im going to release any more demo's as I dont want to ruin the full game Anyways few more weeks and the full version should be done so stay tuned!

Depends on who's playing it, for me Age of Empires is too dark, but most things are bright for me because I have adobe gamma but for some reason has no effect on somethings

Well it's nice to be seeing all sorts of feedback, and I'm glad that the game is doing well so far, me and Justin only started the project about a week ago and already things are starting to get somewhere! So thanks for all your nice comments and we will be letting you all know when the full version is done!

Any feedback on the storyline?

it's a bit generic, no offense. Aliens on a space ship and all... but you seem to be doing good with it. The alien knocking on the door was stellar, still can't get over that. If you put more touches like that in, the game will be amazing.

As for the actual story, aliens on a space station is good but you could make it more original... like teh aliens are here to clear out the earthling infadels that have been coming to their planet (which we call our moon) and stealing their oil. [Note: I reserve the right to use that] Anything to make it stand out more would be great.

Well I thank you for your honest oppinion, but I wanted to keep it simple not nesisarily [spelling] origional. But I also need to clean the storyline up a bit, I've been needing to do that for a while, but I have been wraped up in the level design at the moment! But thanks anyway, if you have any ideas on how I could improve it slightly then please let me know, but I would like to keep the basic idea of aliens on a space station.

Thats accualy a good idea devastation. Id like to have quite a few little scripted events in this game to spice it up a bit. The bugs cacoon the humans they kill and hang em from the ceiling so there will be some area's where you will see these. Im also thinking of when you open a locker to look inside a dead body falls out
