Like the title says...
CE ~ Jetpack ... with neccessary files for importing into FPSC

This Jetpack is just what you need when you lose your wings.

* Pick it up and a Hud will be displayed to let you know you have it.

* Its timer doesn't start until you have fired the thrusters.

* After 30 seconds use, it will display a new Hud showing the fuel loss.

* In the last seven seconds the Hud flashes to let you know its time to land.

You can check it out here...

http://www.conjured.us/fpsc/

Its part of our new Add-On.

Surehere are some Screen Shots,
but they got a little distorted when converting to JPG for compression.

(SS4) Here's looking at one after we've first picked one up notice the Hud under the gun.

(SS2) Here's one of it in the Editor.

(SS5) Here's one in flight after 30 seconds of fuel has elapsed. (Notice Hud)

It's part of a pack that you can buy at his site.

I have 3 questions about the jetpack if you can provide advice.

1. Can the Jetpack be used successfully indoors? i.e. If you reach a ceiling while moving upwards is collision on for the player preventing upwards movement or can he keep flying upwards and move through the ceiling to a room or otherwsie above?

2. Does the Jetpack use key, clash with any default key used by the player in FPSC and if so can the Jetpack be dropped or disabled once picked up to aviod dual entity activation?

3. While carrying the Jetpack can the user get on an upwards moving lift and use the lift successfully?

Your help is appreciated.

Thank you.

@uman

(1) No. This is an outdoor Jetpack.

(2) No, it does not use a key, but it uses the Enter Key like Keys do.
Opening a door with a key would start the thruster's timer though.

(3) No. Lifts mess it up for some reason.
You wouldn't need a lift if you had a Jetpack anyway.

So, I guess you could use the Lifts Indoors, and use the Jetpack Outdoors.

@=ChrisB=

No, you can not use it in multiplayer.
You can not have Dynamic Entities other than Players in a Multiplayer game.

Yes. You can use them in your games.
Quote: "(1) You can use any item in this Add-On when creating your own games.
(2) You can distribute the items, as long as they are part of the game(s) you created."

Commercial or otherwise.

No guns. The list of items that are included is provided at the website.

@flashing snall

Right now, its made so you can fly as high as you want, until the fuel runs out.
Don't worry, they should fall back down eventually.

The Models are sold "as is", which means that I won't be doing any modifications.
You have permission to modify the script anyway you want.
Read the license.
Quote: "
(3) You can modify the scripts or model's textures as long as you...
A) Give credit for the base to Conjured Entertainment.
B) Provide a link to www.conjured.us/fpsc"

We included the FPI Tutorial in the Add-On for those new to scripting.

That FPI tutorial is pretty thorough, I got ahold of it before they eliminated the thread. It makes for a nice add-on. Oh, and I won't be handing my copy out as I'm sure Conjured wouldn't appreciate it too much...so don't ask.

The FPI Scripting Tutorial was restriction free when it was offered here for free.
You can do whatever you want with that copy of it.

This Add-On that I am offering contains over 40 files in total.
$5.00 is practically giving it away.
That's like 12.5 cents for each file.

I think the Tutorial is worth well over 12.5 cents, so that's a bargain.

You know as well as I do that that script is mine. Free to use, free to distribute. But NOT free to sell. Thus you owe me royaltys of 20% of all profits you make. Nice doing buisness.

BULLSHOX, do something about this.

Uman, if Conjured left my code as is, yes it could. But he changed it SLIGHTLY so that he could claim it was his own. A simple raycast would do the trick, and I think that it was fully implemented... I need to check again.

I wish we had a melee weapon set.
Then we could have swords, knives, baseball bats, fiberwire, chains, broken bottles, etc.
There are so many other ways to die without a gun.
I need close range combat!

I did think of getting DBPro to make a melee weapon set, but I figured it would take too long.
I'll let a DBPro expert have at it.

No well you cant really as you cant drop the Jetpack you would not be able to go back anywhere indoors and use a lift would you. So indoors and lifts are a no no in any level that you have picked up the Jetpack - you are saying its only good for outdoors where there are no lifts and dont have to use the enter key for any other instance use as it starts off the Jetpack. e.g. With a door (use)for instance use of the enter key will both open the door and start off the Jetpack - continuosus use of the enter key here would close the door before (open, close, open, close) you got through it if you were flying near one and had to hover to get through it.

The difficulties of FPSC eh - Understood.

I don't know what you did, but in my tests it works fine.

(1) I placed a prefab then I put a lift in it.

(2) I placed some ground outside then I put a Jetpack out there.

(3) I placed my players marker indoors.

Now when I ran my test game here is what I did.
I first tried out the lift.. yup it works fine.
So, I went out side and got the Jetpack.
I went back inside and rode the lift again... yup still works.
I have never fired the Jetpack.
I went back outside and flew on top the building with the Jetpack.

The door was an automatic door.

Lifts, Automatic Doors, and Jetpacks go well together.

Yeah, its not difficult.

Just DO NOT fire the Jetpack Thrusters when riding a Lift.

I think its the added gravitational forces of the lift that compresses the Jetpacks Fuel
which causes a safety valve mechanism to close.
We're still conducting research.

This Script was modified from a Script that was offered here at these forums in a Post by Merranvo.

There was no License Agreement to the post of base code in question.

The BASE SCRIPT was MERRANVO's, not yours, unless you are Merranvo.

His timer did not work.

I modified it into MY version that does work.

Again, Merranvo's thread gave the code away without restrictions at the time I looked at it.

That unrestricted code is what I based my work on, and was modifed by me in order to work.

The modified version is mine.
I wrote the modifications.
That is my claim.

That is what they are buying.
My modified version of "the" jetpack script.
His script had no restrictions, but mine does.
That is why it is at my site for sale.
Not listed for free in the forums.

Merranvo's thread said nothing about royalties.

Quote: "You know as well as I do that that script is mine. "

Who are you 1Post?
What claim do you have to a script that was posted here before you even joined?

AND how do you figure 20% ????

That script is one of forty one files in the Add-On. (only 1 of 41 files)
That's more like 2.4 %
Even PayPal gets a bigger cut than that.

Even Merranvo doesn't have a claim because he posted the code here in text form unrestricted.
Read the terms of the forums.

I'm not the first nor will I be the last to modify and sell unrestricted code.
Merranvo should have sold it on his own site instead of giving it away.

Period.

All these files...
jetpack.x
jetpack.bmp
jetpack.fpe
jetpack.jpg
were all created by me.

So was jetpack.fpi, that was based on his script.

If merranvo knew that you would steal his work, and call it your own just because you wanted to make a little money, then he would have placed restrictions, however you are still are bonded to restrictions even though the code was given away free.

One of these restrictions is the fact that, in your own words, the producer may E-mail you and have you remove this script. I think that is fair, but then there is the problem that you don't post an email. Another restriction is that you may not call it your own, and thus, if they use the script, they must cite the original author, not the mod author, but you claim full rights to the script.

It would only be fair if you separated the script from the pack and placed it as it was, free. Else you name will be changed to Monster, infamous for claiming other peoples work.

That script is only 1 of 41 files in the Add-On.

About 10% of that script are parts from Merranvo's base script.

He had no restrictions on it when I got it.

The other 90% of that script is all my original work.

Not one part of it is a copy of his.

Next you'll say that he owns the action moveup=x because he used it first.

THAT IS MY SCRIPT BASED OFF Merranvos WORK.

NOT STOLEN FROM HIM.

Merranvo knows that 90% of that is NOT his.
The 10% that is like his, are the common actions that make it fly.
Those actions would be found in any script for player flight.

The End

Yeah, I'm just like Monster, only I take PayPal.

I'll have a Road Pack by the end of this week.

There is no competition.
We both lost. Let's move on.
I'm not going through this again.
Bury the Hatchet already dude.
I welcomed you back.
Start Over Already.
We get no where like this.

Quote: "It would only be fair if you separated the script from the pack and placed it as it was, free. "

I would be glad to offer his script for FREE if he wanted.
But my script is mine, and the modified one will cost.

With his as a separate script, then they can see there is a lot of difference between the two.

His had No working Timer.
His had No Sound.
His had No Hud display.

Again, his was just the basic actions needed for flight.
My Script does that and so much more.

Mine has a working timer.
Mine has sound.
Mine has two huds, and one even flashes when fuel is low.

I give him credit for the base script he created.
But again, my script is mine as it is obviously unique and gives different results than his.
They are two separate beasts.
