Hey guys ,

Ive been working on my latest (and first) game for quite some time now , called Blast Arena , a 2 player comedy-based game that will make you go lol at sight of the first screenshot !

2 guys Marko and Dax , are the best on their planet when it comes to playing Blast Arena (not the pc version) , a death-match style game ,where you kill the other player and/or keep yourself alive . To find out who is the best of them , Marko and Dax arrange a battle out in a new and funky arena to see who will blast the other first in this comedy-based game , the only problem however ..... is that Marko and Dax are simply spheres !


Features :

* Stunning 3D cartoon graphics

* An exciting split-screen view

* A 2-player game allowing you to take on who ever you wish from family members and friends .

* 3 Rounds to try different strategies in each one of them , just incase plan A didnt work !

* Lots of Blasters to collect , each with its own special power .

well at least you have a basic set of information about your game...?

How far have you gotten with the game so far?
Very Start - got game idea down, just gotta program it
Start - have basic movement system / level
Middle - have the main game code done, adding Special fx etc..
End - Getting out the Polish?

Im in Middle , finishing positioning and starting collision ,to be specific , i finished all the controls and every thing (even game menu) but im working with blasters now , what happens when they collide with player , and each one and its special power ,etc . but what do you think of the features above ? They will be added

lets not forget this is my first real game .

well , i did set the sync rate to 0 , so it runs its fastest on each pc , like gogeta (ehm..) previously suggested .

setting the sync rate to 0 is actually not a good idea(i think). If you do that, your game will get diffrent results on computers. It may even be unplayable for some. I would suggest putting the sync rate on 30 or 60(I always use 60 myself)
Just think about it, if you had a really good computer and got around 500 frames per second, the game would be unplayable etc. So i would say it's best to lock the frame rate.

But it's looking good!

(Lets not forget there will be some awesome music to go with each round ,they are famous music tracks by famous artists , but i will remix em a bit and state the artist /band that the song is made by .)

Another thing you have to look at is that for a computer game the minimum FPS that tricks human eyes to see it as moving pieces and not just still images in 13 FPS it's slow but if you can't get what you want make sure it is at least 13

in those screens with four players it looks hard to tell one player aprt from another, maybe some dividing lines?

Im not stupid not to notice that , its just that ive tried every possible way to divide the screen , and the latest ive got is a flashing white line dividing it , i have no idea on how to make it still and not blink .

this code places a divider between the two screens, just take note of the positions I gave the two viewports.

ok , when i get more progress .

im currently done with :-

setting views (which wasnt very easy for a first timer , 95%)(5% for the dividing line)
controls (100%)
adding the TURBO feature (100%)
loading of all models correctly (100%)
collision (0%)
positioning(working on it 15% )

The game is looking good. Look in code snippets for examples of game collision. Lots of work has been done.

Thanks , I know some of you here can whip up something like Blast Arena in a matter of days (i took about a month now) , but Im learning as i progress ,and everytime i learn something , i try to use it in the game .

try to set object light Obj,0 to all the objects(only if the objects are textured and not coloured it will look really cool)

thanks Gogeta , it'll be really nice of you if you can stop blocking me ,I wont be noobish no more .

Heres a tip for blue light , The characters dont look good ,even though i know the reason (to make the game loading faster,etc) , but some gamers wont understand that . Sure you'll have an online mmo in the end , but it would look better if they really were characters and not cyber stick men , But the view is great , even better than my favourite mmo (eng.pristontale.com , which is what made me like game making) . Ops , I think i went a little too offtopic , anyways , Id like to thank the guys at TGC (like gogeta , cash curtis ,Xenocythe, TDK man , you know yourselves) for supporting me and giving me tips .

@keemo: if u didnt heard the news about blo, thats bad..
dbp ide deleted me some source files of my game (3 of them - which means half of game)
anyhow, im stoping working on that, and ill try to make something else, or just restart coding the game~ idk..
but the reason im using bone man in my game, is:
1) very easy to animate them, and i got around 10 animations on my bone guy..
2) also its v. fast to load them as u said..
3) im not modeler, i cant create a good looking ppls + bone them, its kinda hard for me
and what u mean by "im blocking you"?
i just gave u some suggestions to make your game looking better with some cartoon style..

oh, and thx for telling me that my game is better then Pristontale.. NOW im happy!

@ Gogeta : I only said te view looked better , but ofcourse pristontale's graphics are much much better , dont feel sad , im telling you the obvious truth , and its because PT was made by a real company , and you should feel happy since you were able to make one of the features in your game better than a commercial one !

I sure to hope so. I got to level 8x in that game before I realized how hardcore it sucked WoW > PT
