@Ooga: we have decided to include the enemy animal element to PoPR along with the typical human adversary. This way while your exploring the terrains you may encounter beasts like Wolves, Apes, Boa's, Crocs, and other creatures...

Not to forget, food(meat - among others)consumption will be implemented in the game so I guess I need to build some fawns soon! Yummy - bambi jerky!

@Xenocythe, lol - sorry

updated the image... Tail is animated to wag, thats it for now....

Much work to be done on texture, uvs, and animations but overall Im happy with first attempt to create an animal...

If this wolf works out to my liking I will release it to the community for use, if your interested in models like this please let me know...

The model is sweet, the texture doesn't really work, you should paint it on

Your signature has been erased by a mod because it's larger than 600x120...

lol, Insanity... The wolf is stoned, he just ate a massive amount of peyote!!!

Sepp, yup the texture is giving me fits. This is my first attempt at painting a wolf and since I have virtually no real artist skills it's a real challange... here is what I have painted so far...

I kinda did a real sloppy job mapping it cause I just wanted to see the proportions and had no intentions of going this far with the texture...

I started to write how you may go about doing the texture.. but I've never been too good with words I'm afraid. I'm off to school.. but I managed to do a quick sketchy example for you.. hope its of any help.

PS: The mesh looks excellent. Good work on that!

what I would do is UV Map it, get some fur texture, skew it to fit around section in the UV Map, add the eyes and nose, and blend the textures together so theres no seams, and you should have a good wolf texture

Jonny, nice quick wip up job.. The eyes and nose are top shelf... (for the yungin's that's the good stuff)

not being an artist by trade makes texturing a bit more difficult than sculpting a model... So you example(s) are a great deal of help for sorting things out...

Heckno: Glad to be of help

Xenocythe: Well remember the texture isnt like a front view.. the lenght of the nose needs to be counted for. so its more about changing the mapping than the texture.

Jonny - are you using a tablet or mouse to do your drawings?

Im a lefty with a righthanded mouse setup so it kinda sucks trying to draw anything with great detail in photoshop...

I tried using the mouse on the left side (left handed) but after years on the typical setup I was unable to adapt...

For those of you that need some type of animal to use as a place holder in your games, i have uploaded this wolf with some sparce animations (testing Max animations with it)...

Model is untextured for your artistic pleasure....

animation range - walking 0-19 speed around 5ish, idle (head movement) 23-36 speed around 2ish...

If I ever map this thing correctly and/or add more animations I will reload the model to this thread....

enjoy.....

cool. must take a look at it. I always mess up animal models. I get the body ok, but I always have a hard time with the legs and joint areas.
