Just a little something I threw together...

I'm thinking of something on the lines of a globe where you can select an area for some kind of planetary base defence... maybe a little "UFO:Enemy Unknown"-esque....

Anywho, a self extracting EXE is attached (and virus scanned - but use at your own risk).

It also contains the source. The pointer on the real map isn't right yet, but its 1am and I have to get up in 5 hours for work :-(

Your signature has been erased by a mod because it's larger than 600x120...

An update.... As you can see, I've added bump mapping. BUT - it causes lighting issues. The last image shows what I'm looking for in terms of ambient lighting. The first two show what is caused by the bump mapping - notice the lack of ambient lighting on them :-(

I've release an update...
http://www.thingy-ma-jig.co.uk/Earth.sfx.exe

Its about 12Mb, but has very detailed textures. It was going to be about 40Mb, but I have found the wonder that is DDS!

EDIT: Btw, you'll need a pixel shader (although I have no idea which one) as I use the built in bump mapping feature.

EDIT 2: Actually, this is turning into more of a work in progress.. Will post entry in new board.
