Hello,
Just wondering whether I should use the skin or the physique modifier when exporting models for animation in FPS, because 3ds max 8 has e new very handy feature within skin called "weight all verticies". It would be a lot quicker and easier if FPS supports skin. Does anybody know?

I tried to export some animations using skin but it got all messed up (look at the attached file)
I followed the instructions from here: http://www.fpscreator.com/42.html

Also, does FPS have support for models and animations created with 3ds max 8?

Any help would be great! Thanks.

If your models and animations are in DirectX format, I don't see how they got messed up that way.

I'm pretty sure I know everything. Doubts are something rare in me and I am never wrong, as this signature can prove.

Use skin it's much easier to use for game models of this type and it exports fine to .x.

Use Physique if you're exporting from 3ds Max. PandaSoft's eXporter does not work with the Skin modifier, but I sure wish it did. If anyone knows a Max script that converts Skin to Physique, that would be awesome also.

From what I've seen in RF exports from 3ds max are exported rotated face down. Not sure if it applies to FPSC or any other Dark Basic products. Perhaps the bones rotated and the body didn't. I've kinda had the same problem with Milkshape.

Attitudes and Egos only destroy. Keep this forum friendly.

Models are often exported from max face down because it uses a different coordinate system than RF and many other programs.

I think the exporters themselves have settings to allow for this, although I'm not sure.

I finally got it to work, I used 3ds max 7 instead of 8, and I used the skin modifier so it seems that PandaSoft does support skin.
