Ok kiddies, I finally found a free .x importer for 3ds max.

Grab it here: http://www.maxplugins.de/max7.php?page=6&range=Import%20/%20Export

It really works! I imported the "berzerker" from the Darkmatter models and gave him some wicked kung-fu moves. Check out the mpeg-2 video.

And here is another video of the berzerker using the standard animations that were VERY generously provided as a biped from the creators.

It will be very cool to use this guy as a boss, maybe scale him to about 3 times his original size. Scary.

Well, while I'm quite comfortable with 3ds max and character studio, I can't take credit for the animation. It's actually mocap data.

I have a huge collection of motion capture biped files, some were free, some weren't. I have just about any type of "stock" move you could want: Running, walking, dying, shooting, martial arts, boxing, etc. Its pretty funny seeing a huge cumbersome beast like the berzerker doing martial arts moves.

I plan on reanimating some characters as well as using it for cutscenes.

BIP files can be made from BVH files, which are much easier to find online.

Yes there is a huge collection is free BVH files that can be converted to bipeds here: http://stockmoves.e-motek.com/

The site is kinda wierd, you have to create a free account in order to download them, or you can just buy the whole collection as one download. Then you have to convert them to bipeds.

But they are great for adding some spice to your game, I hate seeing the same old animations over and over for every character.

Which one did you use, Quest3D or mofo?

I use the Panda DirectX Exporter, has quite alot of features and options for exports, also recently updated for Max8.
