I hope to have a game finished soon and would like to release it into the `budget` range software area, around 10-15 pounds. Has anyone experience with this, or in a similar position? Two possibilities are, for example, Kooldog, who publish the game for you or Softwrap, who package the whole thing as a copy-protected demo and take a percentage. Any views on these or other ways ?

Here's a comparison of services that handle credit cards and registration code delivery automatically: http://www.blackcatsystems.com/regservices/

I've had a pretty good experience with Digital Candle. Once you set it up, all you have to do is take your monthly check to the bank.

Hmm, do you think it would be better to sell or "shareware" my game? It's a massive project and it is coming along quite well, I've got a team of animators working on models and textures and levels (along with all the concepts ...) It will be a high quality game for it's budget i'm sure, being a multiplayer game and quite well thought through. So far I think I (not we) have spent 100 bucks total and that was for DBPro. We're using Maya, 3D Studio Max, and Photoshop at our school to get the rest done. Any suggestions?

P.S. This is what the alphabet would look like if Q and R were eliminated.

Toga, If I were you this is what I'd do. I'd release a multiplayer test. If its a MMORPG then make a small playable area, if its a shooter with many maps, only release 1 or 2 good ones.

Then I'd get it put on www.MPOGD.com (multiplayer online game directory). As well as all the big filesharing places that are strictly for games such as, fileplanet, fragland, fileshack, etc. You wan't to be able to build as much of a buzz as possible without paying for marketing.

This will allow you to get some beta testers, and future purchasers.

Thanks, actually, it's a seige game. Think medieval Unreal Tournament crossed with Tribes crossed with Warcraft, with a little Stronghold in there ... and add a lot of unique qualities.
