You need 3DS Max with Character Studio. What you downloaded is the skeleton and the animation files, not the Character Studio software. To use it, you must make your chars and then rig it to the skeleton and animation.

I'm pretty sure I know everything. Doubts are something rare in me and I am never wrong, as this signature can prove.

In short, you need $3,500.

Not really. There's a number of modelers, including some free ones that you can use to make characters. As for animation, Fragmotion ($20.00) will do a fone job of export.

But can you use the Character Studio files there?

I have the latest 3D Studio Max. You have been very informative but I still need exactly what to do with the files. I tried opening them in 3DS Max and it said that it didnt recognize the format. So My question remains unanswered. How do I use the files in 3DS Max to create characters? Is there a directory that they have to go into or what? I know all about the software needs I have the software that everyone said that I needed. That is not an issue. I have recieved answers to questions I didnt even ask. Is there anyone that can tell exactly what to do with the files, that will enable the creation of characters that will run in FPSC?

Thanks for the info that you have given so far.

take a look at Pacemaker... http://www.Goddysey.com

it exports .X, and is a great new tool for creating animations...
