If I buy DB Lite, does it include or can I upgrade it to version 1.13? Does DB Lite considered a "full DB"? My guess is that it is... but I'm unsure...

Thanks,

Ed

Yes you can upgrade and yes it's the full thing (minus the EXE saving ability).

Cheers,

Rich

Does the upgrade to 1.13 include the extra commands from the "Enhancement Pack" or are those commands only available when you buy the additional "DarkMatter" product or the "Enhancement Pack" product? Can the "Enhancement Pack" commands be added to DB Lite?

Thanks!

Ed

It includes those commands to evaluate on a 30 day trial beyond which they stop working. You cannot add the EP to DB Lite. You must upgrade to DB first. Add the cost of those 3 things together and you have the price of DBPro

Cheers,

Rich

Okay... so I bought DBLite. When I start it, it says v1.11 at the bottom of the editor screen.

So, I downloaded the patch for V1.13. When I try to install it, it finds my DBLite installation, and when I click next it says:

This program cannot update the installed version of DarkBASIC V1.13 Patch because of the following reason:
The destination directory doesn't contain any files to update.

So, have I been misled?

Ed

Does DBLite qualify for an upgrade to DBPro?

Is there a v1.13 upgrade available for DBLite, or not?

Ed - you might want to allow a little more time for a reply I can't check here every hour! But to answer your question:

V1.11 and V1.13 are identical versions except by release number. V1.11 was simply a lite version build of the V1.13 system, and as such is the latest version available.

There is no upgrade path from DB Lite to DBPro at the moment because so few people buy DB Lite we didn't think it was worth it - but now you've asked I don't see why we can't do something. Let me ask Rick, it's his decision ultimately but we'll announce it if we offer this path.

Cheers,

Rich

Rich... wait may not need to bother... DBLite installs a link to the upgrade page here:

http://www.darkbasic.com/c.php?f=liteupgrade

It says I *can* upgrade from DBLite to DBPro for $85. I was confused when you said there was no upgrade path - and I was just trying to get someone to verify that if I click "Buy" on the web page, I won't spend $85 to get a DBPro upgrade that doesn't work because I don't have what it needs to see on my system during the install, or however that works.

Thanks for your help! I'm sorry to seem impatient... DB is pretty exciting after all... ;-P

God yeah, you're right.. I forget my own site sometimes

Pro isn't an upgrade to DB though - well, not in the sense that it installs over the top or anything, so don't worry about that. It'll install just fine even if you don't have Lite on your machine anymore.

Cheers,

Rich

Thanks Rich... I'm going to order the DBPro upgrade now. I'm glad I bought the DBLite to use while waiting for DBPro to arrive though... and there's that Retro contest and all... I guess I should sign up for that... before it gets to be Apr. 4...
