Just having some fun with the new particle options in blender, in case people weren't sure how to use the hair feature its very simple. There are tutorials on the blender web page now for all of the new features. Once you add hair, you can use the weight paint tool to paint on different amounts of hair, featheres or whatever you are using the particles for. You can also use the same tool for the length of the particles. Then you can create curves which affect particles within a set distance( you can have fall off and stuff). These curve guides are the most powerful, using them you can style the particles into elaborate hair-do's or whatever you need them for. Plus, i imagine that you could parent a curve guide to a skeleton, so that you could animate the hair realistically!
This is what I got in just 10 minutes.

In poser i know you have to move little groups of hair to select hair which is very difficult, and i didn't see anything like curve guides in maya. Blender is advancing!

Also, 2.4 isnt' actually out, this is using the test build that is on their main page now.

This is showing it used in plants. This is a pct from an animation I made that had wind blowing the drapes and the plants.

Nice i got that release too today and i made some very nice hair with it. It looks to be a VERY slid release. I like the look of the live LCSM unwrapping too. A very usefull and needed feature. Is that animation softbodied?

Regards
Zac

Nope its just using an empty as wind and usign the default particle physics. I think that to make it look extra good in animation you have to make 3 or 4 different emitters for each plant ( like if you have a field of grass in the wind, have 5 or 6 different emitters so that the movement is a little more random).
