I searched and searched for over an hour on the web, and couldn't find any free animator that can import and export .3ds or .x files. I need something made for animations. It's such a pity that Anim8or doesn't export animations in models. Please, anyone, is there an animator out there that I can use?!

Blender, get your head around the GUI and you will be very very happy, but getting your heard around the GUI may require some work, but its a very powerful tool for free, heck you can make your own lightmaps with Baker in Blender, I never got my head around the GUI, because I already have my desired app

Sorry ive just been wondering about that. I guess since blender can't import .x you wouldn't want it, there aren't many free animators out there tho. I'm going to buy character FX I think as blender doesn't always export the animation correctly. Character FX is only 15 bucks and it loooks rather good. Blender is the only free animator i can think of that sometimes works in dbpro.

Why don't you just find a 3ds to .x converter and use blender.

@ Ooga Booga, I dunno how to bake lightmaps in blender, but I think it might just set up your scene, look for the baker tool, and click on bake, if not look for Baker tutorials, be careful when searching because Cinema 4D has baker too

I can't, because Blender can't import .3ds or .x

Maybe, but anyways, when I do import an object, like .obj, it removes the texture!

I think .objs don't work with textures, every app I've used with them have no texture, generally I use them to contain UV map data into UVmapper

Oh, ok. Thanks.

One more thing: is there a way to rename a limb of an object?

Objs contain materials. The texture path and filename are exported to a seperate file which will be the same name as the obj but with an .mtl extension.
The app that exports the obj will need to export the mtl as well. Same thing goes for the importing app. Usually stuck under some import options.
