This is the best I could do, I bet it has something to do with the incredible scaling up that has to be done.... at least he shows up, he is not over his own shadow and his position is off.

Try making a very large room with just a floor segment, and then place him. You'll see him! Don't forget to delete the .bin and .dbo in the entities folder where he is *before* you place him again.

should be the DirectX file format compatibility. FPSC uses the most recent one, and maybe not the file.

What program do you use for making textures, manofart. That's pretty good.

ManofArt, this re-texture is great. I'm good with Photoshop, but i don't think i will have the patience to do all these details.

I made this texture and believe I gave it to Sinistar to use in his GraveMatter pack. It was made in PhotoShop CS. I used photos of a real rib cage, a jean texture and a new skin texture taken from a crocodile photo. I believe I also lifted a halloween mask from some site for the face (ya ya I know.) I then burned the dark red areas more so they looked like dark, old blood. Shaded some areas on the arms for muscle tone. I did a little work on the hands as well but lost motivation by that time.

If anyone wants the original PS files I can e-mail them to you so you can get an idea of how do it.

It takes more than a working knowledge of PhotoShop but once you learn how to use it you can get great results. Though you will have to have talent....that I can't supply you with.

Well, if you're still interested, I imported this model into 3ds max, scaled it up to where it should be , and animated it using the biped provided by TGC.

I also added bump mapping, here is an in-game picture, pretty cool looking, huh?:

Yeah I personally like it, but if its not to your taste, you can just open the fpe file and blank out line "effectbank/bumpbone/bumpbone.fx" under "visual info", that will remove the bump mapping.

well, these aren't my models, I'm just rigging them for animation. I'm also going to animate the Half-Life 2 zombie model and the fat one from Doom3.

On second look, the bumb map doesn't look right on this model like Skalex said. I'm gonna refine it a little.

We should get together on some of this stuff. I am great at building models in LW and texture in PS...but I really don't have time to animate them (also don't own a copy of 3ds Max.) I do animation and SFX in LW but again, for the game thing I really have no spare time.

I'm pretty proficient at modeling in 3dsmax...I'm modeling my wife's head right now (she wants to be in my game!). But I appreciate the offer, if you need anything animated I'll try and do it. I have a LARGE collection of mocap files that cover just about anything you could want for a 2-legged character.

One of these days I'm going to append the biped file that was given by TGC to cover some swordplay animations.

TeMpLaR:

Yeah I have hitting (punching type) animations. Do you mean dealing out a punch or receving a punch?

ChrisB:
I haven't converted any of the DM2 models yet. I did the Berzerker as an quick experiment, I could send you that one. (You own DM2, right?)
I'll probably do the DM2 models on an "as needed by me" basis.

Yeah I could easily add the hitting animation. The only problem would be changing or modifying an existing AI script to play the correct animation and dealing out damage to the player.

I haven't gotten that far yet with this kick-ass piece of software, but I plan on it eventually.

So for now he's just your average gun-wielding zombie, identical to any other character provided with FPSC.

Templar, would you like me to export this zombie with the animations I used for the half-life model? I could even filter out the right arm animation so he just slashes with his good arm.

yeah man

are you able to slightly change it tho?

like give it a different sort walking pose or something, so they dont move exactly the same?

its ok if you dont, its really good as it is

thanks a bunch for this

your truly a good guy

Mmmm,maybe...the thing is, it takes a really long time tweaking 3mb of mocap data, then exporting on top of that.

You could always just alter the speed of the character to give the illusion of different movement, plus since this zombie doesn't have a right hand I think it'll probably look different enough on its own.

i guess so

its ok , wasnt a big deal

the animation of the hl2zombie is very good

so if oyu do put the hl2aniamtion on this zombie

it will be good, because i dont think zombies are surpose to be able to use guns
