My review of Gamespace 1.6:

Worth the money. A strongly recommended purchase. People who buy this product giggle silently to themselves at their good fortune once they use it a while ...

This program is significantly different than the GSlite version that you get for free. GS1.6 exports easily to DBPro, textures and all with no problems using the "no ascii" option. I did crash GS1.6 with some options, but all the bugs that I experienced with GSLite are GONE. No more "crushed" models. Wonderful, beautiful import of textures.

Modelling takes some getting used to - I am a former Carrara Basics/Raydream user. All this power and options are hard to get used to having. I wish that I could create a custom palette of tools, and probably can (if I only knew how!). Vertex and point selection is a wonderful thing. The freeform editing of points with the mouse is, regrettably, fubar in the perspective window - I am just not used to it yet. The info panel is, however, a wondrous thing of beauty. Did I mention how much I love "snap to vertex" and "snap to line"?

The desktop space that you have in the edit screen is excellent - better than some Adobe products.

I would have liked to see a CD automatically mailed to my address in addition to the download. I am a total fan of hardcopy. The download is VERY LARGE - be prepared! I was using a laptop at a cybercafe, and when I saw that my $300 worth of software was going to take an HOUR for the FIRST FILE I nearly had the type of accident that I hadn't had since I was two! I did get all my files, and it did *not* take all of my laptop's meager battery life to do it, but ... man, that was soemthing that I didn't need to test.

I am using GS1.6 today to model a low poly human based on a loaded Poser figure. This process is not only teaching me how to use GS1.6, but also will result in a figure that I can use for games. It is SUPER EASY to model in GS. I am getting pretty fast at it, too.

Despite the manual being a cluster of PDFs, it is useable. I am getting use out of it.

The navigator too - the multicolored phallic thingie in the right hand screen corner - I am not a big fan of it, but it is useable.

Overall, I am expecting great things from this tool. It looks like everything that I wanted.

Great review. This review proves what i'm always saying: GSLight is sh*t and full of bugs. GS is awsome with no major bugs.

I have TrueSpace 6.6 (GameSpace's father ), it is GS but with better Renders, more tools, Render animations, etc...

Oh well, it still sucks in my opinion. It's just an atrocious ripoff.

It's (both TS and GS) my main modeler right now. It has it's problems (i.e., the "Microsoft has detected..." screen), but for the price it's quite good. I may move on later to something else, but I won't be erasing it from the hard drive.

In my 2 weeks using the full TrueSpace 6.6, i got one fixed problem. I love TrueSpace, and it works great with games.
