Just asking. Im gripping 50$ worth of change very tightly right now. You see I brought Dark Basic Classic and The 3D game maker. While both blew my mind away, I couldnt exactly do what I wanted to do game wise due to limitations in either program. Im shaky whether I should shell out another 80$ for DBPro, or just wait for FPSC to evolve. Id rather not sit on a package for a year and then end up forgetting about it liek I did with T3DGM
Anyways, CHEERS TGC! I hope this program reaches its height before the world ends

Thanks.

As for the update, I'm going to give it to them (documented and all). What they do with it is up to them (of course I will release what I have when I am finsihed, still waiting on Mike for an answer on the culling thing I sent him).

It's only been out a couple of months.

In this time there's also been a major update for DBPro, TGC's flagship product.

If I were them I'd be in a hammock somewhere, sipping pina coladas.

ladders
in their wisdom tgc ( even though advertised with..) removed the ladders from the finished versio which completly knackered up a load of levels i was working on,if ladders are on another thread somewhere then please point me there as i have no intention of working on any more levels until these first ones are done.

Had to do with adding the "Physics" pack. If you don't want the Physics, you can have ladders back.

Pick One.

You know I think that since TGC are realising the source code it sounds unlikely that they will do anything else to it since every DB Pro Coder can do just about whatever they want to it. Why spend thousands of dollars updating softwere that other people will do for free, sorta.

There are only two people doing this at the moment, I think. It seems to be a hard task.

TGC might use their work at some point, and only they can upgrade the editor.

I don't think there'll be a V2 for a while (12 months +).

And I don't think they'll want to overhaul FPSC until more people finish their games, and they get a better idea of what changes are needed from the more dedicated creators.

This seems to be what's happened with DBP at any rate.

Hopefully, there'll be a competition in the new year and we'll get to see what FPSC can really do.

i guess beggars cant be choosers. I can code decently in Db but when it comes to multiple levels, enemies, weapons, I start getting confused and I give up. Which is why im waiting for FPSC to sky rocket. But ill work with what I got for now. Im sure with time and a few vigorous tweaks I can bypass one or two minor limitations of the FPSC engine.

Just realized, 4 months later that my question wasnt anywhere near answered.......... wha-? Ive taken a looooooong break from DB. Ive been working on another smaller project a 2d game using a diff engine. Id post about it but id get flamed, phished, banned, hacked, etc etc etc. Anyways, I do plan, afterall, on purchasing DBPRO since it seems to developing pretty well. I see a few upgrades that just plain old dont work with the demo version of DBPRO. I sure hope its fast enough to pull off an actual game, because yeah...Id really like to box it up and sell it in a 5$ bin somewhere and im not kidding. It wont be a FPS since...well its obvious aint it? Doom3, Farcry, Painkiller, etc. Ive been planning something more on the line of a Crash Bandicoot clone and Ive got lots of ideas and unlike 2d games, I can make this game 350MB and no one will complain, if I put it somewhere where they can download it, if such a place exists for indie games..maybe I should google that....;[

Or they can add that (of course adding more to the price of the program should not matter to you also).

Really, what you expect for $50? Hell, working at McDonalds at 8.00 per hour....I think they spent more than 6.25 hours building FPSC.... HELL, I've spent more then 6.25 hours....

Example: I get paid $120,000 per year working here in Honduras. Now, they are taking my application and selling it and currently have billed out over $1,000,000.00 BUT my program does everything. They can charge $100,000 per copy because it does it all. If not, people would spent the $399.99 on Quickbooks. What I am getting at is expect to pay a huge price if you want an complete engine.

Or you can turn physics off in relationship to a ladder entity.

Hi, Im ready to pay +- 500$ for a good FPSC engine, with realistic shadows maps, import export objects, texturing possibilities, i think(for me) 50 or 80 or 200 $ for an engine is not a bad price, but if a engine like FPSC cost 500$ with theses functions im buy it "directly" 500$ is a good price for an engine, now the question is, how to find this or a programmer if can make extensions, updates for FPSC

I have buy FPSC for 30$ in Belgium (my state)its ridiculus this price, i think if the developpement team of FPSC add a BIG UPDATE of fpsc, they can sell it for 200 or many more im sure, because many people searching in the world to make GAMES and never find a good engine with zero programation code to add for create a game(like FPSC)...im sure the developpement team or programers we can UPDATE and PUSH UP this engine, they can selling it after for a GOOD price...really...
Thats my point of view..
Thanks

ooooook. Ill wait for FPSC to evolve to a greater height. Im going to buy DBPRO, and since my computer crashed I can reinstall the demo and try it for another 30days I think >8)

But Ive been thinking ridiculously hard on DBC and though I think it was a monetary loss on my part, Im gonna try to build a basic windows based level editor from DBC. Its gonna be for teh community that largely like me, has no idea how to pull off a FULLY FUNCTIONAL game with DBC without the programming hassle. THis isnt a promise of course, but im glaring in this direction right now and I think I can come somewhere near my goal. If anyone wants to help with coding, I think this will help the DB community ALOT!

But if I cant do it.....then ill just buy DBPRO and build my levels in Deled, import them, and get the NG Collision system. Ive got a few plans and I still believe ill be releasing either a game or a program to the community. If I get good enough I hope to make a small series of indie games that I could sell in a bundle pack.
ok my hands are starting to hurt from all this typing....

eehhh, its gonna be a while before I actually start on the editor since now I have alot of planning to do. I was seriously thinking of a suite of programs that push DBC to the limit of its capabilities: a basic level modeling program with lights etc etc, also to be used for characters (naturally low poly), exporting each limb separately and assigning it its necessary code and saving that to a txt file, special effects (more light tricks) alpha blending, particles etc. Id love to add things like a.i to the list but ive already got about a few months of research to do. Ive got some basic plans written up but I dont start testing or even building until this summer when I get some time. (Im still working on another game project elsewhere) But im gonna sit down and crank this one out for the community. I think this message is in the wrong place........
