Hi

I have been wanting to start a thread like this. I am curious too as to how everyone plans to sell/ market their games. What are you going to do for payment options? How do you plan to distribute the game? What about packaging? Website? etc etc. If I can ever get mine finished I plan to sell my game thru a web site as a download probably using Paypal. Paypal is super easy to use and I regularly use it for Ebay sales. I would also use Ebay. Double your chances for exposure and add links there to your Web site. I have a store locally that I want to display a boxed product. These are some of my ideas so far. I hope others will add theirs.

I'm not planning on selling any, but packaging a game, based on an upcoming movie in production. The game will be a bonus feature on the DVD.

I think you could sell FPS created with FPSC for $5-10 online. Anymore and you are into another market.

And distributors (if they buy into your game) will want at least 45% of that.

What about a CD with multiple games from a host of different developers? A bundle? $20-25 would be a good price and probably would attract more customers.

Nice idea.
I had a simular idea only the movie was based on the game.
Using the Character's Models as the Actor's in an Animated Movie.
A "Full Length" Cut Scene so to speak.
A Movie/Game combo is a good idea.

I agree will Gulli and Chris B too.
Unless you have custom media, keep it cheap.
Custom media would be needed for the Bundle by different developers idea too.
Otherwise, you'd have a bundle of games that look alike.

No. Not yet, but I am real soon.

I plan on reducing my game's MSRP from $19.95 down to $10.
It will be offered at my own website as a download with a PayPal button.

I am undecided as to Pack the Game's Files or leave them for people to learn from.
I was thinking that having it unpacked might increase sales.
It should be available at my website by the end of this week.
I'll keep you posted on how much it makes. (maybe enough to buy DBPro 5.9?)

I think using Paypal and Ebay would be great,as well a gathering a lot of game developers,I mean, us , and find ways to promote the games we produce: as an example, I'm portuguese and I could put my webpage that sold the game registered on a lot of portuguese search engines; a spanish developer would do the same, and so on... Besides the national search engines one would register the site in the world ones, like google,altavista...We could provide links on each others sites to maximize the income.
It would be a ever growing network.
It's not such a bad idea, I think.
