FPSC Classic Models and Media / Custom Models slow down my game!

When i put a custom character model in my game, the game slows down very much and when i kill them the speed returns to normal. Whats the problem?

The custom model may have too many polys or the texture is too crazy.

Grab your custom model and lower the poly count - it will help a lot.

Chris if you use 3d max thres a plugin called "polygon cruncher". Good for taking high poly models you use for cinematics and making a more manageable size for in game models. The colonel-x model uses 1800 and some change(faces/polys)....so this would probly be a good goal.

Well I never said it was cheap. But you take a model like the one I use for my avatar that I create in Poser for cinamatic sceen animations and that char has around 250,000 faces( polygons ). Put it in the davinnci pose and do a production render front and back. Then import this same char and pose into 3dmax for rigging and prior to that you can crunch it down to like 1k-1300. You then can do a uv map of this new low poly model and use the renders you made in poser to "skin" the new models uvmap perfectly. I find the loss of polygons is of no concern with a great map, cause all your details are retained from the full poly render.

I have tested it on several PCs and still dosent work. But now when looking at the hl2zombie it works! But not the swat char.
